I think whoever the next DoF is, the club need to give a bit of clarity about the roles involve because that seemed to be one of the biggest problems

I watched Dan Ashworth do an interview on BT Sport and he articulated brilliantly what his responsibilities were (which, I was surprised, do not involve choosing the manager at all - instead that's the owner/board)

See i would have thought that was the case anyway.
100% the role has to be clear now. I personally would hate to do a job as a manager and have players plonked on you by a dof.
I dont think moyes would touch one with a barge pole. And i like that. And i liked the way he bought players. Have it as a fancy name for a scout if you want. But i like managers who fully have their signings on the pitch.

Well if there is one positive about Moshiri it's that he opens the Wallet a lot

if this guy didn't lie Levys tight fist he might prefer our way of doing things

This chap has a big network of contacts across Europe.

On the recruitment side ive read over the years that he put forward some top names for Spurs and the RS but was also involved in them both signing flops -- although wasnt the main decision maker at either club with Commoli (Spurs/RS) and then Mitchell + Levy and now Paratici at Spurs above him.

Hard to tell if he would be good for us if we got him.

Could he come in as an expensive chief scout? Perhaps a technical Director?

Those two roles perhaps suit more than a DOF.

Tbf find me a single DoF or manager who doesn't have expensive flops on their resume

I don't think that is necessarily a stick to beat him with.

The thing I'd be more interested in is what sort of value for money he found, plus what his ratio was of success to failures

Whatever happens, you can guarantee that some people (naming no names) are going to be against him (or whoever else is appointed) because they're against the idea of a Director of Football anyway

Anyone linked would not have to work hard to see the chaos. We can be an easy option for someone willing to pick up a hefty salary, or are we going to get someone confident and assertive enough to do the job on their own terms?

For both manager and DOF, we are running out of chances. It's a case of whether or not Moshiri will actually allow someone to do the job on their own.

I know Ndombele has undeniably been a flop at Spurs but back then he had every man and their dog convinced. He was consistently passing the eye test of scouts, pundits, fans, etc.

Agreed. He was looking like he was a step away from becoming world class when he left Lyon.

Quite incredible that he's dropped off so much. A bit like Alli after Pochettino left.
