Steve Hitchen

This is a tough one to gauge. The general consensus I'm seeing online from Spurs fans is concerning. But at the same time it seems obvious that he no longer fit their structure with Paratici. Spurs fans in general are upset at the moment because of how the transfer window played out. It seems like he was more sympatico with Pochettino, and I believe that Lampard's natural progression as a young manager can mirror Poch's in terms of playing style and man management. Hopefully this is with Lampard's approval and they work well together.

With all that being said, it's really tough to judge until we know his role, remit, and how it fits with the new structure. Will he be hired as the DOF with a similar muddy role that Brands had, or are we going to give more control to Lampard and have Hitchen lead the negotiations? All likely moot to some extent with Moshiri in charge.

Just read another report (blacklisted here so i cant link)

-- Pochettino liked him and he landed his targets that the club would allow financially (the others have been mentioned e.g Grealish). Also Ndombele was a Pochettino wish (cant blame either of them for him).

-- Mourinho was happy as he landed all of his targets

-- Conte likes him but he was pushed out a bit as Levy hired Paratici

So, quite cautiously positive overall about this, i know he has a good book of european contacts...but thats about it.

Only 45 as well so someone who has their best years ahead of them.

You’d think we’d learn our lesson about giving fellas called Ste jobs as directors of football when it’s not a role they’ve done before

There isn't a single DOF in world football that hasn't a sketchy record - Monchi in Italy for example.

Get him in - if he has links to Joorabchian then at least they'll have an understanding at the top rather than numerous cooks competing for the same pot.

Here's the problem I see.

He could have signed a number of players but levy wouldn't back him.

That is almost the exact same scenario he would be walking into here. As we saw with brands.

We don't need a director of football who can say here's a few players we could have bought, or a couple of highlights in a sea of nothing (Walsh). We need a director of football with a proven track record , a whole list of great deals and young players who were at least potentially first team. It's a long term job, we don't need the next Fernandes identified, we need a whole team of them.

Moshiri will pay the money, problem is our DoFs/Managers bought crap.

If this fella identifies quality players then I dont think Moshiri will start doing a Levy and wanting to get them for buttons

We have seen ZERO indication that Moshiri blocked any signing suggested by any manager or any DoF.

He's got links to Kia, which is a worry

However, he seemed reasonably competent on the All or Nothing doc.

that being said, it was in comparison to Mourinho and Levy, so I'm not sure that's a good yard stick
A ha, that explains it. Surprised Mosh hasn’t just installed him as DoF
