Steven Naismith though.

Steven Naismith seems to pop up with vital goals when we need them, he works hard and very rarely loses a header, shown against United.
Really proved people wrong in the last year or so.

As for his passing back instead of forward, we dont have a forward, we paid £28m for a winger but failed to bring in a striker for Naismith to pass forward too.

I hope this £28m superstar proves us wrong in the same way. (must keep the faith).

One of the few who doesn't flap it against the top sides - Baines take note. If Lukaku carries on like he is i'm all up for playing Naismith uptop ahead of Barkley. You can't take thoae goals out of the team if your other striker isn't getting many.
He cant lead the line. He's proved that time and again. Just doesn't have the game for it.

He is what he is: a second striker who plays off a more mobile striker just ahead of him. He's no acm and he's no 'playmaker'.

If you build your attack around having Naismith with pretty much a free role then he'll get amongst the goals, no question. The judgement then has to be whether the few goals he scores makes up for the fact that a tried and tested set up that services the whole of our game has been (or had to be) ditched.

For me it's not even a serious choice: Barkley becomes available - Barkley goes straight back in with Lukaku playing ahead of him. Where or if you fit Naismith in after that choice is made is a secondary concern.

A new contract is a must or we could lose him come January. The reason Roberto is messing with the system is due to having 5 or 6 injuries to key players not to accommodate Naisy. We do however need our best players back, that goes without saying.

Best Player for us right now! Any way we can play him and Barkley without playing Lukaku on the right? maybe a 4-3-1-2 with Mirallas and Pienaar as RM and LM respectively

Once everyone is fit there will no doubt be games where Naismith gives us a better option than Barkley (depending on how the opposition are set up) and vice versa.

Also, it's nice to have decent options on the bench which is something we've lacked for most of this season up to now.

Good goal but was terrible apart from that tbh.

Lol no he wasn't. He was as good / bad as anyone else in the team and probably better than most. See Lukaku, Romelu, who was utterly, utterly terrible.

How are people still slating him seriously? He's a forward and is on the pitch to score goals.

He was awful. I like him, not as much as everyone else but i wouldn't slate him if he was good.

Apart from the goal he didn't do anything. He is playing in a position where he is meant to link the midfield to our actual striker [lukaku] and he does't do that.
