Suarez's Punishment

Perhaps Suarez was a jackal or something similar in a previous life. His attack looks like some predatory animal in a wildlife documentary.

Copy and paste from ESPN:

FIFA has announced it will investigate the Luis Suarez alleged biting incident with Liverpool's Uruguayan striker likely to face a lengthy ban if found guilty.

Suarez appeared to bite Italy's Giorgio Chiellini towards the end of Uruguay's 1-0 win, leaving teeth-marks on his shoulder.

A FIFA spokesperson told Press Association Sport: "We are awaiting the official match reports and will gather all the necessary elements in order to evaluate the matter."

FIFA's disciplinary code sets a maximum ban of 24 matches or two years, but the longest ban in World Cup history was eight games for Italy's Mauro Tassotti for breaking Spain's Luis Enrique's nose in 1994 with an elbow.

Suarez has twice been banned for biting opponents. In 2013, he was banned for 10 matches for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic and in 2010 he was given a seven-game ban while playing for Ajax for biting PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal.

FIFA's disciplinary code allows action to be taken retrospectively via video evidence even if the incident has been seen by the referee.

Article 77 of FIFA's disciplinary code states the disciplinary committee is responsible for "sanctioning serious infringements which have escaped the match officials' attention" and "rectifying obvious errors in the referee's disciplinary decisions".

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli, who went on to resign immediately after the game, confirmed he had seen the bite marks.

He said: "I didn't see Suarez biting him but I saw the bite-marks on his shoulder but the referee's assistants were so busy they didn't see anything. It's a shame, it's a real shame that it turned out like this."

Chiellini said it was "ridiculous" that Suarez had not been sent off while Italy's Claudio Marchisio was for a hard foul on Arevalo Rios.

"The disparity in judgement has been evident," said Chiellini, who showed the referee the bite marks while still on the field. "Marchisio's sending off was ridiculous but more so the fact that Suarez wasn't sent off. There's an inclination to protect star players but the referee should have shown him a red card."

Jim Boyce, Britain's FIFA vice-president and head of FIFA's referees committee, expressed major concerns about Suarez's actions.

"I have watched the incident several times on television," said Boyce. "There is no doubt Luis Suarez is a fantastic footballer but, once again, his actions have left him open to severe criticism. FIFA must investigate the incident seriously and take whatever disciplinary action deemed necessary."

Putting all the hysteria aside, really can you not see that the Italian defender bumped into Suarez hence the injury to his shoulder.

That is what Suarez is saying!!!!!!!!!!

The reality is that Suarez is psychotic. The incident occurred with his team on the verge of elimination. Liverpool were 2-1 down when he fancied a chunk of Bratti.

The fair thing to do is a long ban - preferably worldwide. If they ban him only for internationals then he personally gains by being able to do his day job better - thereby potentially becoming further rewarded.

If he stays at Liverpool I can only hope they draw Juve in the CL (I guess there's a 1 in 5 or 6 chance of that).

The noises being made by him and Uruguay blaming the English media are those of guilty parties and he has tried - again- to pave the way for a move. Hopefully he goes.

I thought the initial reaction on RAWK was very much one of ridicule. They were not standing by him.Obviously the warriors are now out to clear his name.

Cannabis..Cannibalism..Almost the same thing to a Uruguayan.

Chiellini, Cazorla, Coleman, Cech.. he needs his Bitaman C.

Really annoys me that people keep insisting "he needs help" because "he's mentally ill". The evidence clearly suggests otherwise. He's just a nasty, violent cheat with a temper, plain and simple. Why dress it up as some sort of illness, and thereby giving him an excuse, when he clearly does it by choice as and when he wants to?

I hope they give him a full two year global ban. That way the RS can't play him OR raise funds by selling him.

He was either abused as a child or a product of incest, no normal person can be fecked up as bad as him.

To be fair, the implication that he has mental health issues are because he tends to do these things when there's absolutely no reason to. Yes, it was somewhat of a pressure game, but in this instance he's cost his whole country any chance of progression in the tournament really and potentially murdered off a money spinning move for himself to the worlds' biggest clubs and utterly goosed his own club who have supported him to the hilt in the process.

So what he's doing isn't "cheating" by traditional means; instead, it's self-destructive, nonsensical behaviour that is, basically, psychopathic.

I noticed this too when I first had a look....A lot of rational condemnation...No one seemed to be defending him, the worst it got was 'yeah its wrong, but as long as he bangs in goals I don't care' ...which isn't 'right' , but they weren't defending his actions.....
