Suarez's Punishment

'At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth,' Suarez said.

He could have had a great World Cup - knocking out England and Italy whilst half fit and then leading the line against regional rivals Colombia and possibly Brazil. Instead, without any real provocation, he reacted against an opponent in a way he knew from past experience would trigger a ban of at least 2 games.

Uruguay might not qualify for the next world cup - they cut it fine for this one - and even if they do he'll be 31 and who knows what type of support team he'll have around him. This was his opportunity to shine on the worldwide stage for his country, similar or better than Forlan in 2010, and he blew it.

He will blame FIFA for being harsh and the English media for scapegoating him, and he might even believe it.

But regardless of his beliefs it won't change the fact that with his talents he could have been the talking point of this world cup for all the right reasons but because of his inner demons he'll be remembered - if at all - for all the wrong ones. That, rather than any ban, will probably be the greatest punishment.

He let his country down, he let his teamates down, he let his fans in Liverpool down, He let his club down, he let his wife and children down, and finally HE LET HIMSELF DOWN.

The silly thing is I do not think he understands what he has done.

I just had to say Applecrumble, I do not know how on earth you find these things in the web and then bring it onto the forum. It just beats me but it is as funny as hell, well done.

probably because the uruguayan president was there to greet him off the plane, his captain doesn't think anything happen and he had an apparent hero's welcome when he stepped out onto the balcony.

why are they cheering him , they should be lambasting him!

His teeth will be well gone by the time of the next World Cup

It opens the possibility that he actually believes he did nothing wrong last time... or the time before that.

It's clear he deems it a perfectly acceptable strategy for his win-at-all-costs mentality. He only pulls stunts like this when things aren't going well for his team. The bites, the raking of ankles, the stomps, the diving, all are intended to either provoke a card-level reaction or a penalty. If he ever bit someone with Liverpool up 3-0, I'd truly be shocked.

There's certain things I hope happen to Suarez which I couldn't write on here because I would be perma banned

His statement is actually the worst thing he could have possibly done.

It basically proves he's a liar as well as an animal. It proves he did racially abuse Evra. It proves he does dive. It proves he goes out to injure players.

There's nothing any section of the media could have wrote that would have damned him more than the own words spewing out of his stupid mouth in that statement.

When he goes to Spain at a reduced rate their players wont tolerate over the top tackles, achilles rakes, gouging and constant cheating. A hero will emerge and end his career (hopefully his permanent mobility).
