Koeman and Walsh

Pair of bellends are the worst thing to happen to us since the European ban, let see hope it doesn't set us back as far
I can't even think about Koeman especially without fuming. Our great club meant nothing. I'm not really a fan of this 'he gets us' but at least show some respect. He never did.

Exactly, I can’t understand some of the negativity here. We complained that we rushed into poor signings in the wrong position last season so if Brands has come out and said at the beginning of the window ‘we’re going to take some time to assess the squad but then Rooney Klaassen Funes Mori Joel will be sold for fees and we’ll be buying Richarlison Digne and Mina’ everyone would have been demanding a statue for Brands. Instead theres been an increase in ‘Dutch fraud’ posts the last few days. Very strange, I think it’s been a promising start after years of shoddy recruitment.

I fully agree. I think he’s done very well to shift the players he has considering the wages they were on. I expect a number of others will either go in the next week or so or go out on loan abroad. As they said when they came in we’ll be working with a much smaller squad this season and if we get the players we want in some key problem areas in the team will have been addressed.

Progress will continue next summer when contracts end for some of the bigger earners / older players.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Christ what have you done. My eyes.

He's gonna have to go some, to sign the other two / three that we need - another CB / CM and a back up keeper before the season starts.

This is when we hopefully see his worth.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the midfield. If we got Mina, I’d hope it was him and Holgate first choice. Depends then on how much he rates Keane, he might keep Jags as 4th choice then and ship out Williams.

For the keeper I’d hope that Hewelt would be able to save us some money and act as third choice keeper behind Pickford and Stek otherwise there’s literally no point to keeping him round if he’s no better than a veteran third choice goalie.

Stek can't be allowed anywhere near the first team, under any circumstances.

Our current defence with him behind it is the stuff of nightmares.

..if the Pedro Delgado rumours are to be believed (gathering pace on Twitter apparently), then it must throw some doubt into Kieran Dowell’s future given they are about the same age and size, both play in the same area of the pitch and very left footed.
Best thing we can do for dowell is give him the Osman treatment and loan him out each year until he has has a full season in the first team.

From what I have seen he does lack things you need from a premier league player but a year in the championship again might develop him further in that regard.

This fella has only played in Portuguese 2nd division, I'd say he's one for the u23s initially

Goin by preseason it looks like he doesn't rate hewelt at all, to not even give him 45 mins somewhere is strange

I have never heard of him before but from the little bit I saw through google it seemed he is more N'Nzonzi than Dowell.

In terms of a starting 11, if and after Mina and digne sign, we need someone box to box who can carry the ball ala zakaria or doucoure and another attacking option to rival tosun and we have something.

Another cb would be the icing so holgate and Keane (shudders) are pushed

Williams - too slow
Jagielka - too slow
Keane - too slow

there is a trend...

To be honest we don't really need a box to box as such but a pivot in the team. With the wide options we have we don't necessarily need a midfielder who will push up by themselves but someone who links the defence and attack up. I would hope there is more reliance on pace this season and moving the ball quicker to the other end so a cheaper modric type player would be ideal . Just someone who can release the front 3 quickly would make a huge difference.

The attack option is a little different. We need options not replacement for tosun. Niasse is the fast unpredictable super sub to get something out of nothing and lewen i still don't feel is good enough so it leaves us needing a pacey striker who can match tosun for goal return. Onikerwu ironically being the perfect type.
