Summer 2018 Transfer Window

I am not sure Rojo is an alternative. I think they will continue to got for Mina even if Rojo comes. We have been linked with Tierney and Bensabaini as well as Digne so I think they have always toyed with the idea of having a left sided centre back who could fill in at left back if needed. Rojo fits that profile more easily for me.

I also think, given how pre-season has gone, Keane, Williams and Jagielka have done themselves no favours, and it may be we are open to move all 3 on as opposed to just 1 (Williams). So getting a lad in who has PL experience at centre half becomes more important. Thats what I hope anyway.

problem being if we buy Rojo, Utd will want Mina to replace him so we are shooting ourselves in the foot....we need to buy Mina first then go for Rojo if that's the case

Im going to against the grain here and maybe be the first evertonian to say i lile Rojo

I dont trust that the link is real, however if it is its certainly not a new enquiry Rojo has been linked out of the club all window i would assume the clubs in the running will have been enquiring the whole time

But i like his tenacity he can read a game he is rapid he is not scared to put in a tackle, the “reckless” “injury prone” talk is not as severe as some are making out

I for one support the transfer if it happens

Im hoping to see Digne announced today (UK Time)

Richarlison haters have silenced after a single pre season game i would imagine the same would happen watching Rojo close the gaps behind our dinosaur CM’s

Oh and any player Jose Mourinho dosent want i am Desperate we sign... De Bruyne, Salah, Lukaku, Mata the list goes on he is shocking for letting great talent leave and hanging on to sub par players

Ash you are not on your own I like Rojo too, he is our sneid, you know the one everyone thought Besic was, until we found out he had marshmallow legs

We need a tough tackling angry arse to get some life into the worst defense I have ever seen in blue shirts, barring Coleman.

I also actually believe that there will be another, a right sided tough tackling center half coming in (prays!)

If Rojo does come in the issue is still the middle of the park, someone who can protect the back four and someone who can take the ball forward and knock it out to Richarlison and Walcott, hopefully with the Lookman money we can throw more money at Watford for Dacoure

rojo and mina sounds much more appealing than jags and keane....just putting that out there.

a back four of the following:

digne rojo mina coleman

vs

cuco williams keane kenny

not much comparison really? Yes, i realise the rumours are mina or rojo, but if we had the choice of both i'd be happy to take a punt after watching the above last season

All guess work currently mate.

The move for Rojo could be becuase Wolves are linked, so we have been flushed out now to make the move. But im also guessing.

The only thing antagonistic is the undcessady negativity around the summers dealings. Digne is potentially the only one met with a bit of approval. The fee for Richarlison was ridiculed as was our scouting right up until the moment he started playing and everyone realises he’s good. The negativity towards Rojo is astounding though, Van Gaal liked him, Mourinho liked him, the United fans like him yet he’s being decried on here as a poor player.

If you think he’s not the man to make our defence a watertight cohesive unit that’s fine but I can’t think of any target we could get who would be. Out of all the players available this actually seems like a sensible signing based on his profile.

The signings so far have been good and Digne in particular looks a shrewd bit of business.

I think we have to break some of the binary on Rojo. The context it's being reported by the media favourable to Manchester United would be a very bad buy. I would imagine (and hope) we are exploring a very different deal. Forget the "he's their best option" sales pitch from them, he is 5th choice, likely to be 6th choice once Maguire goes and taking up a huge wage. Like us with Williams it gives the buyer a lot of leverage.

If we can get him at around the 13-15 million price point, with united agreeing to compensate his wage for the first year, before getting him for significantly below the 120k p/w mark then it could make sense as a deal.

However thats the most positive we can say. We have spent all summer basically being told we can only sign people one we let go of expensive wage earners. That has delayed our activity and put enormous pressure on the back end which is only narrowly being avoided as a panic. If you can clear off lots of high wage earners with little sell on value, it doesn't make sense to then just re-populate the squad with another high wage earner with little sell on value. We are just compounding the same mistakes as previous years, and thats my concern.

Unfortunately, it has a bit of a feel to it of the Williams, Bolasie, Schneiderlin deal and it's hard to shake that feeling.

The pl experience is potentially the Crux of it for me, if we did get Mina & obviously it’s appears digne already done would we get another Centre half with no pl experience.

That would be 3 of the back 4 never having played in the league & holgate as the 3rd choice centre back having played a handful of games at centr half.

I’m no overly enamoured with Rojo to say the least but if we get him & Mina or a similar type zouma even I can see the plan regardless of how much i am on board with it.

I am not sure the interest in Mina is so strong from them. I think Maguire if first choice (and Leicester will be a much bigger threat if they have 65 million quid burning a hole).

Went round to ma's last night for dinner and an old family friend was there. Pam's a lovely old lady who lost her husband ,John, about 5 years back. She's just taken a new lover who she met at her retirement home. Frank's a bit younger than Pam, good bloke but a bit creaking in the joints. Anyway, to cut a long story short; Frank ain't no worldbeater...but he'd be our best centre back by a significant margin...
Bahahahahaahahah damn I was getting into that then. x

I think thats fair. The problem we have is PL experience comes at a huge cost really. You either take caste offs from above us on huge wage packages, or have to pay inflated fees to those below. He would fit Silva's system which is a positive that could be made for him.

I also believe the performances of our cab's may well have been worse than he'd have anticipated. That will be causing concern. Maybe that has pushed him in the direction of getting a more experienced head in.

The problem I have with it, is I remember making these same arguments 2 years ago to defend signings that are now ultimately weighing the club down, and restricting our ability to operate. There is not an endless pot of money, though sings such as Rojo rely upon such. So we end up reproducing the same problems further down the line.

The question is though, has Frank pummelled Pam’s back doors in yet?

Good auld Frank.
