He's only 29 mate and his game doesnt rely on pace, would definitely do a job for us for another 2-3 seasons and give us time to hopefully get European football to target a younger model of similiar quality. Let Gana be the legs whilst he dictates the flow of the game.

Nemanja Matic is 30 and is quality for Utd
Barry was fantastic for us for 2 seasons when he was over 30

Cabaye at Palace for 2 seasons etc.

Thought Cabaye was rubbish at Palace, but I agree with the point. NZonzi is a big upgrade on Morgan, and i’d happily take him.

I don't disagree he'd improve us it is just that Walsh/Koeman have absolutely ruined us in terms of the amount of players we have with no resale value. Something like £400m is already committed in wages/fees for players 29+ over the next 4 years.

Gueye is bang average. I would genuinely choose Schneiderlin over him, and that is saying something. At least he has discipline and seems to understand football. As for physicality, I've never seen it. I've noticed he has stamina, I think people are mistaking the 2.

I agree we need someone with a bit of craft though, an actual midfielder would be lovely instead of the 3 half players we currently have, who all seemingly need better players to hold their hands and take responsibility for improving them.

Think you are being generous there... he is absolutely crap

It is not a long term solution. Until we hear to the contrary (i.e. someone like Usmanov may come in) Everton need to have a continual stream of players being sold to help us. I don't think we can afford such luxuries as Nzonzi if we do that.

Shame really, as moving on Schneiderlin and Gana and swapping for Nzonzi would be a good option.

Needs to be a blend mate otherwise we should have gone for Meyer on a free who ticks all the resale boxes.

I think our central midfield looks lost at times and could do with a slightly older head who has not only the physical quality but also that mental strength and experience of playing in big games / winning trophies.

Gana certainly attracts extreme opinions about his ability, from crap to wonderful. Like most players he is somewhere inbetween with good qualities and a lack of others. If we could get someone better I would have him out of the door to a championship side which is his level. While we have him we need to provide the midfield qualities he lacks with somebody else. I have no idea who might be available. Cabaye?

Cabaye is about 41...you see what I mean mate.

Thought we were looking for the next Nzonzi not the previous one.... :-)

Schneiderlin is a complete non-entity.

Put Gana in front of the defence - with the specific task of sweeping up and regaining possession/stopping counters, and he's a hell of a player. He is wasted further forward.

You then have a few options how to play ahead of him.

Either a big, powerful box-to-box midfielder, or a more quick-footed 'playmaker'. Ideally, we get a player who can combine both, but they are extremely rare (which is why if there is even a sniff of Dembele we should be all in for him).

And no, before anyone suggests it, that player isn't Gylfi imo. He can get on the ball in the final third and cause damage, but he doesn't run a game. Regardless of his price tag, it's never something he has done.

Agree with this, the only issue is it appears that Silva likes his holding player to be more of a "quarterback" then just a shield.

Unfortunately Gana just doesn't have that passing ability in him, and it shows even more further up the pitch. Schneiderlin's signing pushed nana out of a position he was great in and putting him further up the pitch doesn't suit him.

If we couldn't get a number 6 to replace Schneiderlin, I have a feeling Gana would be the one to make way, even though he is better in the holding role.
