Summer 2018 Transfer Window

Plea looked very direct and dynamic in the few videos I watched when we got linked to him, definitely a nightmare to defend against and is a good age for a signing to a new league.

Josh King wants to leave Bournemouth because he wasnt played as a striker so might not be a good idea to sign him for the left wing.

It depends how we'd play though.

Silva often played a front three at Watford - Richarlison given the freedom to drift inside from the left.

King could well be useful in a similar role, for example.

Wouldn't argue with that, but we don't have a bottomless pit of money to bring in every player we need, plus we have a lot of deadwood that needs moving on to free up salaries. For me our priority has to be, in order, LCB, CM, LB and AM. They also HAVE to be good enough to go straight in to starting XI. We already have enough young squad players that need further developing.

I also think you are expecting an awful lot out of our coaching staff if you feel they can make those decisions on DCL and Tosun, based on 6 weeks training (half of which will focus on fitness) and maybe 4 pre season games in which each player will probably get no more than 45 minutes. All this whilst trying to introduce a completely new system to the team. the last thing I want is us making hasty decisions on them and the have to make further hasty decisions in the transfer market given that it closes in early August.

As regards Tosun, who one would imagine will go into the season as our starting striker, you want us to be reasonably confident he could get us 20 goals a season. If not, presumably you think we should bring in somebody who could. Well in the last 5 years there have only been a total of 9 players who have scored more than 20 goals in a season. Suarez, Aguero, Kane, Lukaku, Salah, Vardy, Sanchez, Costa and Sturridge. Think on that for a moment.

As regards DCL, IMO he should go into the season as back up to Tosun, with the emphasis being on developing him through limited game time and personal 1-1 coaching centred on his weak areas.

Come January, if it turns out we have a serious problem in the striking area, then we can look at finding a fix then. But for me, there are more important area's to deal with this summer.
Again, I agree with the principle of what you're saying, but not with every point.

I agree that a new striker isn't our number one priority. Personally I think a genuine left winger is more important than an AM, a position which I think Sigurdsson and Lookman are good enough to rotate in. A left footed player would give us better balance and just a different option, even if it's off the bench. Maybe Dowell could be that player, but if Sigurdsson for example is in the middle behind Tosun then we have the same lack of pace which blighted us this year, and I know Dowell has played a lot on the right cutting in.

I kind of disagree with the idea that all of the players you mentioned have to be immediate first teamers. I don't think Baines is totally finished, so I don't necessarily believe we need to go out and sign Danny Rose or the like for £40m, a good steady alternative who can share left back duties with Baines would be fine in my opinion, same with the attacking position as already mentioned.

I would totally disagree about the coaches. If a coaching team can't decide whether a player is good enough after working with them every day over the summer and watching recordings of previous performances then what are we paying them for? Surely we can't expect them to buy good players who they've never worked with on that basis, because how could they make a judgement? I'm not talking about making a hasty judgement like selling someone after 2 friendlies, just coming in and saying I do/don't think this player is ready to have an impact for us this season. It's a pretty standard expectation of a manager I think.

The 20 goals comment on Tosun was just because that's often used as a yardstick for strikers. 18 would be fine like, but the point still stands. The coaches need to analyse peoples games and decide whether they think they've got what it takes to do what we need. I find the idea of just giving people a chance on the off chance that they prove to be better than you thought a really odd one, but I know a lot disagree with me.

Have we bought Lozano yet?

The first call Brands should be making on Fri morning is to that muppet Raiola telling him to get deals for Lozano and Kluivert sorted.

He would`ve complimented Allardyce very well though.

Allardyce sat there, with shirt open to the waist, gold chains on show, pint of wine in his hand and Carvalho just sat there looking cool with his tash and tight " fro ", full shell suit and wrap around shades, looking like the lead singer from Cameo lol
Tony Cascarino tells a story of one of his first games for Gillingham, Allardyce was on the other team, prior to the game Tony is walking through the corridor and is approached by a large man in a white suit, white cowboy boots and a white ten gallon hat, yes it's Sam. Don't think you are getting any chances against me today lad, he barks and Cascarino scored within the first 5 mins lol

The most important signing for me this season is going to be at left back.

Baines has been fantastic but he just doesn’t offer what he used to. The fall back positions are so vital in determining how the team can play going forward. The best teams in the world have good attacking fall backs. If we get someone who can offer what Coleman does on the other flank it’ll change the way we play.

No comprendi

Something about an Oak.

The coaches of @Sporting_CP Leonardo Jardim and Marco Silva (future coach of the @everton) follow with #William oak attention. #AS_Monaco and Everton intend to secure the services of number 14 of the Lions. Remember that Monaco sold its defensive midfielder @Fabinho to the @LFC

Think we can take that with a pinch of salt.

This window will be about cutting the squad in terms of numbers, I can see there being a few quality additions rather than loads of average additions and a load of yoots.

I think we may struggle this window to off load as many as people want us too.

We have a world cup coming up and every scout and his dog are going to be scrambling all over it, on the look out for bargains.

We could be stuck with the Bolassie's, Williams's, Schniederlins and others for a little longer than we think.
