Smart, intelligent player and something were lacking.
Rather him then some guy from Portugal who may or may not make it.
At least with lallana you know what your getting

You need a balance of ages mate, 28 would likely give you 3 seasons or so at the current level before decline sets in.

Lascelles is 24, Carvalho 26, Lozano 22.

22,24,26,28 would be a really good spread of ages to add to this squad.

Say for example those players are replacing last season's starters Bolasie 29, Williams 34, Schneiderlin 28, Baines 33. That's 24 years off the squad in four players.

LB (Baines is staying, forget someone like Ismaily as too old), left-footed CB (farewell Ashley), Box-box MF (Schneiderlin is not a fit in Silva's scheme) and striker (Oumar is not good enough). There will be more incoming but they will be u23 eligible. The bulk of the work is squad pruning as Brands made clear.

Hmmmm. Technically Lozano would qualify for u23s.

So if we sign Ismaily, Carvalho or Lozano you gonna tell your agent mate he was full of crap mate?
