From an agent mate so scoff all you want but the positional needs that have been briefed out to agents are young (!) LB (Baines is staying, forget someone like Ismaily as too old), left-footed CB (farewell Ashley), Box-box MF (Schneiderlin is not a fit in Silva's scheme) and striker (Oumar is not good enough). There will be more incoming but they will be u23 eligible. The bulk of the work is squad pruning as Brands made clear.

The good news is there's a market for our scrap. Newly promoted teams will look at Williams and Bolaise etc and think they can add some much needed top flight experience so we should be able to shift them. The bad news is that it'll be on loan or we'll have to supplement their wages to move, to the tune of probably 50-75%.

But if the Iranians got the dough.........

Williams was a crap signing but he did for a season in place of Stones and didn't cost a fortune. Bolasie, Klaasen and Keane cost a fortune and were a whole different level of 'mistake'. We might just be stuck with them as expensive squad players as I can't see many paying their wages and a transfer. Or Silva manages to wave his magic wand and turn them into top-level PL footballers.
