...it’s Wednesday 6th June and here’s the Everton transfer related gossip from this morning’s news outlets;
- Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Marco Silva said Everton don’t need a deluge of new players: “I don’t want, and the club doesn’t need to sign a large number of players. It’s not what we need to do, we need to sort out the number of players first and then be assertive and attack the market, take the right decisions and sign the right players for us to come here and improve the squad”.
- The Guardian quote Marcel Brands suggesting the playing squad needs culling to free up funds for Silva: “First of all we need to offload players to raise money (for transfers), and also salary wise. But it is not only a money thing. Of course money is important, but also, for a coach, it is not workable to start with 38 players in your squad”. The predicament Brands is bracing himself for is those who are on huge salaries insisting they will stay.
- Daily Mail journalist, Dominic King, suggests Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is one of the players who could be sold. The Mirror says Everton will look to offload as many as 12 players.
- SportsLens website pick up on reports linking Everton with Real Sociedad striker, Willian Jose. Apparently the 26 year old has a €60m release clause in his contract.
- According to The Daily Mirror, RB Leipzig have held initial talks about signing Everton’s 20 year old winger, Ademola Lookman, on a permanent deal. Spurs and Southampton are also said to be interested.
- MadAboutEPL website report Everton are prepared to break the bank for the signature of £50m rated West Ham forward, Marko Arnautovic.
- A number of outlets say Leicester are leading Everton in the race to sign young Norwich playmaker, James Maddison, and a £20m deal could be concluded in days.
