So we have a squad of 38, he wants a squad of between 25-30. Let’s say we make 5 signings and end up with a squad of 30. That’s 13 players we’ll be binning off. I’m going to completely guess (in a wishful thinking fashion) that it’ll be the following;

Joel
Browning
Galloway
Garbutt
Besic
Schneiderlin
Rooney
Tarashaj
Mirallas
Williams
Martina
Sandro
Bolasie

Look deep inside and ask yourself if we’d genuinely miss any of them next season. That’s ignoring McCarthy and Mori too who were out all season, and the likes of Pennington and Henen who won’t make he grade.
As I said earlier of the 38 listed I’d only want to keep 15 , that’s 23 we could sell/ loan / give away / bury under the patio that we wouldn’t miss
It’ll take 2 years and 4 windows tonsort this mess out

I think there is a lot in that. Sandro scored as many league goals as Salah did last season, in a better league, from a similar position in a league that translates better to players making the move to England. While it may sound churlish, but Liverpool got very lucky with Salah looking at his previous record, or maybe they saw things in his game the numbers didn't show, and we may have got very unlucky with Sandro. When you consider that context though 5 million was a snip.

I also believe you have to be careful writing people off who may have come into a new environment, been treated pretty badly and therefore not produced their best. The lad clearly has some ability and if he is to return I'd be quite happy for him to have another crack, perhaps a bit more under the radar, with less expectations. We should have learnt our lesson with Niasse really, that allowing people to get settled makes a big difference.

When he first came he reminded me of Radzinski in that he would run in behind. His finish against Atalanta was good. He is similar to Grey at Watford in a lot of ways who Silva wanted. There are many negatives about Silva, but one positive was meant to be his willingness and ability to coach on the training pitch and work with young players. I think Sandro could be one who benefits from that.

I am all for a clear out, particularly of lads who are of an age where they will not get any better, but we do have to be careful we don't end up trading one set of promoting young players for another set of promising young players without ever giving anyone time to settle. Yes as fans we always want new names, new exciting signings etc, but the best football clubs, or at least the ones we would try to emulate do that, they have a stability and give people a bit too long to prove themselves.

If someone takes him off us with the wages then that would be good, but if he stays there is enough raw resources there for Silva to work with.
The difference is that Sandro doesn’t seem to want to make the transition and made it clear he wanted to stay at Seville we’re he also bombed

I'd genuinely shop exclusively overseas. We have enough 'proven' players in the squad to build around, who cares about English/not English. We can get a better player for half of the price. As if we paid 30m for Keane - shocking! 27m for Bolasie. Unreal. Liverpool got one of the best players in the world for a mere 13m more than we paid for Bolasie. They got Mane for far less than we paid for Sigurdsson.

Build a squad around Pickford, Coleman, Holgate, Gueye, Walcott, Sigurdsson and Tosun.

The scary thing about that statement is, if we can so can other teams.

It begs the question then

Why would they come shopping at the Everton Sale, if there are better players for half the price elsewhere?.

I can see us seriously struggling to off load players this summer and if we do manage to shift a couple of our big earners, i can see clauses written into any potential contracts that we either pay up the remainder on their's or subsidise their new one.

Walsh and Kooman have collectively demolished this club in the space of 2 seasons.

Because we’ll be letting ours go for peanuts just to get them away from the club.

I agree with that, i posted some ( what i thought ) were more realistic prices for our dross previously in this thread, needless to say, others thought we will be getting top dollar for them.

That said, i still can't see the greedy sods giving up the massive wedge they are earning here without a fight.

Now Silva has said he’ll be playing a 4-3-3 we can look at players that will suit the system. It’s ideal for Walcott and Lookman should fit in nicely on the left side attaching role. Lazano would fit in nicely too
If Silva has said he will play 4-3-3 then we will need at least 4 proper wingers to cover for injuries suspensions etc.
Walcott Lookman and 2 others
If Lozano comes still leaves us one short.
Dowell and Vlasic are not wingers in a Silva formation

It would be nice for us just to sign up a player before the world cup starts, just to give us that little nudge to think we have been pro active
