Rojo will be allowed to leave by MourinhoPA
Everton want to close a deal for Yerry Mina, of Barcelona, or Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo to resolve their problems in central defence.
Marco Silva, the manager, will look to push through the signing of one of the centre halves to complement the incoming Lucas Digne. The French left back is expected to undergo a medical at Everton in the next 24 hours after a transfer fee in the region of £19 million was agreed with Barcelona.
Everton have been negotiating with Barcelona for the Colombia defender Mina, too, with Rojo an alternative target. The Argentina international did not go on United’s tour to the US owing to an injury sustained at the World Cup, and will be allowed to leave by José Mourinho.
Mina has also been linked to United in the event of them missing out on Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.
Silva, who has already signed the Brazilian striker Richarlison from former club Watford for an initial £35 million, recognises the need to overhaul his defence with Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines in the final year of their contracts.

....it’s the last day of July, and here’s Tuesday morning’s Toffee rumour tit bits;

- The Telegraph and Manchester United News report Everton have made contact with United about the possibility of signing Centre Back Marcos Rojo. The 28 year old Argentinian signed a new contract in March and his £120k per week wages might be a stumbling block. The Mirror suggest a £30m valuation.

- Foot Mercato and other outlets say Lucas Digne will undergo a medical at Everton today ahead of his move from Barcelona.

- According to The Liverpool Echo, Everton still want Barcelona Centre Back Yerry Mina. Catalan newspaper, Sport, reckon Manchester United have asked Mina to delay a decision on his future until they know what their situation is.

- The Echo also report Leeds United and Wigan are interested in taking Everton defender Matthew Pennington on loan. The 23 year old made 24 appearances for Leeds last season.

- Portuguese outlet Correio De Mania say Everton are not signing Porto Left Back, Alex Telles, this summer because the Toffees can’t afford the €40m fee.

- FootballLondon website report midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is odds-on to stay at Chelsea next season amid interest from Everton and Crystal Palace.

- The Daily Mail suggest RB Leipzig are about to table an increased £18m bid for Everton winger, Ademola Lookman. Everton are thought to want £20m for the 20 year old.

- According to L’equipe, Everton are tracking Rennes 22 year old midfielder, James Lea Siliki.

- The Liverpool Echo lists Everton players whose futures remain uncertain; Yannick Bolasie: Sandro Ramirez: Kevin Mirallas: Ashley Williams: Ademola Lookman: Mo Besic: Cucu Martina: Matthew Pennington: Antonee Robinson: Tyias Browning: Brendan Galloway.

- Royal Blue Mersey weblog pick up on reports linking Everton with Villareal’s Russian World Cup star, Denis Cheryshev. The winger was not a regular starter last season and is valued at £18m.

- The Daily Mirror say Everton have stepped up their pursuit of Sporting CP midfielder, Pedro Delgado. The 21 year old struggled to make his mark at Inter Milan before returning to Portugal on a free and said to be keen on switch to Goodison.

- According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have ruled out a move for Everton’s Leighton Baines because of the players wage demands

Siliki should be signed just for his name. My Manc mate is loving the fact that we may be signing Rojo and has said it’s £13m not £30m. Surely they have better targets then that?
