MARSEILLE HIT BACK

Marseille have released a statement (we have roughly translated it) claiming that they are surprised Dimitri Payet is negotiating with West Ham because they thought they had come to an agreement that said that he would stay until the end of his two year contract.

But the club go onto say they did accept an offer from West Ham and are not accusing them of any wrong doing.

Payet is in London today to discuss a £14m move but the French club aren’t giving up hope of convincing the midfielder to stay.
