Ha, all joking aside, why on earth should we use them as an example. They're effing nuts, lallana is worth a 3rd of that a week, like you say, it was the biggest contract in our history. There's probably only a handful of clubs who offer any player that much, and i can't think of any who have appeared in the CL as infrequently as us. Anyway, i'm glad we're not a club offereing a centre back 180k a week and paying a £50m fee. He plays for soton, he's hardly the best centre back of this decade is he? City are offering stupid amounts, we can't compete with that, whereas the RS are offering stupid amounts for some seriously rank players, i'm not jealous.

I dont disagree however the modern player goes we're the money is so we just need to face facts that any of our players who are ready to make the step up will inevetiably leave. We also then shoudnt be bidding £60 million for centre backs if we can't afford to pay the wages.

Didn't Perez agree terms with us last season and then turn us down when Wenger gazumped us last minute. That's the way it is mate, CL teams come first and that's where we are behind most of them. To catch them we need to sign the Perez's of this world, so though it's disappointing when they go to the Arsenals, Man City's of this world, what can you expect. I say sign him if we can and try and get Sandro alongside him, whether Lukaku stays or goes.

agree, i don't think we're quite there yet to be offering that sort of money for a centre back. I mean if we could attrack a top world class striker, i'd be okay with us spending that much, but not on a centre back, then again, i don't think even real madrid should pay that for a centre back. I doubt we would have made the offer if we couldn't have afforded the wages. Rom would have accepted that contract offer if he believed in our ambition, that's how i see it anyway.
