He's not a million miles off a Graziano Pelle though surely.
I think Koeman likes a target man, particularly one who can hold the ball up well and bring others in to play. It's well documented that holding the ball up isn't Lukaku's biggest strength, but if he goes then it's going to be difficult to get anyone near his quality. Perhaps if we then spent the money on a good striker and an upgrade on Mirallas and/or Barkley then the goal burden could be shared around a bit more evenly between the front 3/4.

Anyone not wanting Giroud is mad. Criminally underrated because he isn't very flashy. Great goal scored, good link up and works plenty hard enough
I agree, my only reservation is his age, 30, and the fee/wages he would command. Think he would score a good number of goals though and is underrated (and under used) at Arsenal. Wouldn't run around loads though so loads on here would hate his guts.

If we'd have brought in Mourinho as manager it may well have cured my other half of her kopite affliction. Bringing in Ronaldo would have the same effect - can you make it happen please Farhad?

Good grief. Giroud?! Farting around doing a scorpion kick celebration at 3-3 whilst his teammates are rushing back to their own half.

Arsenal's 3rd choice striker, no thank you. If he was coming in for cover I could see it, but he wants game time and isn't what we should be looking for at all.

The good thing is even though he is aging he plays a style that doesn't rely on tons of pace so he should be able to be fairly effective anyway. I think fans would come around to his not running as long as he doesn't trampoline shin it around

Man Utd apparently have bid €60m for Morata but Real want €90m! If they fail with him their gonna go for Belotti?! So it would seem Utd have no interest in Lukaku. Maybe they know he's Chelsea bound?!....
The obvious answer is that Jose has managed him before and know him inside out.....and clearly doesn't rate the big galoot.

I had this chat with a few on Twitter earlier and I think replacing Lukaku purely in footballing terms would be easy enough. Yes, he's a brilliant goal scorer but purely as a footballer he's got some way to go yet and I think we can replace him with a striker that is better with his back to goal and link play and I think if we find that player and get quality in and around that kind of player then we will function better in attack and I'm sure we will be, as Koeman says, more productive and more than cover the loss of Lukaku's goals.

It's about finding the right blend in the attacking areas. Look at Liverpool for example, they have just qualified for the CL without a recognised striker in their first 11 and without one of their attacking players hitting 20 plus goals in the league! Get in the right players that will work well together and I'm certain we'll be fine.

Koeman as a certain style of play and doesn't mind going from back to front but you need a CF who can make the ball stick up top and then knit things together and if we're all honest, Lukaku struggles on both those fronts.

I know it's all ifs and buts but if we can get a striker that can hold the ball up and link the play and get double figures in goals (10-15) and then wide players that can also get around double figures (8-10 plus) and a goal scoring CM like a Klaassen possibly who would chip in with similar numbers, then you've easily replaced Lukaku's goals. And if our back up striker, whoever it may be, chips in with some and the likes of Mirallas do better than he as, Bolasie when fit does better and Lookman kicks on and chips in then we're gonna do better all round aren't we.
