So lads, wat do:

Pickford
Coleman ____?____ Williams?? Baines?
Gueye Morgan
Klaassen
_____?_______?______?_____
We'll get Keane most likely for the CB spot.
Sandro on the left wing or centre? Will we go for a Michy Batman/Iheanacho type for CF?
Will we get Sigurdsson on the left and push Sandro in the middle?
What about the right wing? Niang looks like a backup but for who?

This is assuming Ross and Rom go.

Plenty of work to do.

please not williams

I like giddy :)

The mood has been set IMO.

We know we have Rom, Valencia, Kone, Barkley (most likely), and probably one of Mori or Jags and also either McCArthy or Besic disappearing.

We have more games to play than last season due to EL, I think even the most pessimistic would be erring on the side of caution not to expect a big influx of new faces.

I am all for a bit of optimism mate.

I think you are being a bit presumptuous on who we will sell, im not sure any of the names suggest will leave bar Barkley if im being honest. I dont see an incentive to sell Lukaku really. So why would you?

I dont think we will make beyond 5 first team additions, or necessarily be that healthy if we did, we have the core of a good team that needs to be supplemented as opposed to rewritten and i wouldnt undervalue what we have or the impact youth players could make. The squad was woefully unbalanced this time last year.

I think its more about the quality and calibre of player we bring in as opposed to number myself.

Im not a greater believer that recruitment or signings drive success if im honest, of course it does to agree but its more about the blend, integration and planning as opposed hes great lets get him and loads like him.

Lukaku will definitely be off and unless he has a massive change of heart and signs a new contract then so will Ross.

Like I said, it's a decent start but we still haven't got anyone signed to replace a couple of our better players who look nailed on to be leaving. We need to keep pushing on.

Im not so sure Rom will leave, whats the incentive to sell?

We dont appear to need the money, Barkley is an alternative sale. he has two years left on his contract.

He might throw a strop, but he is not going to down tools in a WC year, its to his disadvange if he gash next year.

I fail to see why we need to roll over and have our bellies scratched by Chelsea.

Neils saves me doing the typing. This is how i always felt too and why i wouldn't advocate any sale, we're having to sign enough players as it is without the need of selling or best player. It was just his comments about a week ago saying he knew where he'd be playing etc which made me think it must be virtually done. But we don't need to sell, i'd rather keep him for one more season and make up the fee difference in champions league earnings. I still don't think that'd be enough for him to stay but we'd be in a much better situation than now.

I think barkley will sign the contract in the end because of a lack of serious interest, especially for the price we'd want, we'll just wait and see.

I get what you're saying but based on comments from him we had an agreement to let him move on if he gave us another season. It wouldn't go down well with other players if that's the case and we go back on it.

If he really wants out then sell him for top value and get replacements in.

Nah i would come at that at a different angle, an informal agreement is fine, but we also have a valuation, that valuation i assume is eye watering, its up to clubs to meet that. we need to be compensated his worth and then a premium for the inconvenience and spending power for an apt replacement.

He can be unhappy all he wants, he signed the contract and its of no benefit to him to be gash next year.

I dont see any incentive to sell for anything below a world record fee, i have no problem if a club comes in and meets that valuation and we move forward, i dont think they will.

I take your point on players, but they are essentially selfish, Everton are in a position now to attract players financially and aspire to be a club that other clubs players want to move to as opposed to the mentality we as fans seem to have of feeling terrified that we have to let a player go to achieve his ambitions. The whole assumptive thinking that Lukaku is gone is just a case in point about this mentality. That cycle needs to be broken and we have the perfect opportunity with Lukaku.

We need to be the hunter instead of the hunted.

so before the two signings,

coleman, baines, snides, gueye, barkley and lukaku were shoe ins. Davies was brilliant of course, but i think with his age and varying formations, he can't be declared a shoe in just yet. Whereas one of the bunch of centre backs (williams the more likely) are also a shoe in right now.

So i'd say that's 7, so yeah, 4 new starters to come in minimum and then maybe one more to fill in the void left by possibly barkley or lukaku.

You don't really want half of a new team coming in from the off, but that may have to be the case with us because of coleman's injury, but we have a good deep squad already imo, just a couple of backups needed to replace the deadwood.

That's a squad of 33 there.

6 question marks which might be a tad ambitious, but those seem to be what we need/interested in. Galloway arguably might not be in the plans in the same breathe as of niasse etc. and kenny may not be included. Lennon could be another who may not be in the plans, whereas there's 4 or 5 on that list that may well be sold.

But there is plenty of depth there for me.

Not picking out you singly, mate, but why does everyone have Coleman in our starting XI next season. Surely we can't expect him to be ready in August? I was assuming late fall (at earliest) given the horrific nature of the break. Perhaps I'm just pessimistic. Does anyone know when he's expected back?
