Summer Transfer Window 2017

Well Niang has gone cold so after Sandro is announced - hopefully today - I'd like to think we have a next genuine target all over the papers. Keane or Sigurdsson probably but hopefully the former.

Niang was never ever a target mate, was pure lazy journalism

Keane will be next IMO, we look to be prioritising the spine of the team initially

I reckon Keane will be the next one we go for personally.

I definitely expect a period of quiet over this window, and I also reckon most of any outgoings will happen later in the window as well.

I hope that as this deal was - seemingly - being wrapped up, we've put all our efforts into getting Keane over the line now. Proper weird all this June business. Maybe we'll have a really quiet August at this rate.
It wouldn't bother me one bit if we don't conduct any business in August. That would suggest we have nailed all our transfer targets, they have been able to have a full pre-season with the club and get familiar with their new surroundings. Last year this happened was when we got Johnson, lescott etc in early and we were rewarded with our best ever Premiership start.

For the players we are looking to offload - then the chances are the prices will rise for them later in the window as teams leaving it late get a bit more desperate.

Not actually bothered if we sign no one in August at all if we have got all the players we set out for and the manager/Walsh wanted, be nice to be in a position and to have the finances though to get all our business done, and then see if any late bargain suddenly becomes available, having all our business done by then would give us a significant advantage over teams still trying to get main deals over the line etc

SELL BESIC MCCARTHY BARRY + BARKLEY (almost certain to go)

Gana / Klaassen / Schneiderlin / Davies for 3 positions

If Pickford is out Robles plays

If Klaassen is out Davies plays

Who plays if Gana and/or Schneiderlin are out?

Who plays if those two are out? Well, we have barry, mccarthy, besic, Davies, barkley.

Who plays if Coleman, Baines or lukaku gets injured? Kenny, Connelly or DCL. Our alternatives for those midfield positions are much better than other areas.

We can't go out and get two quality players for each position in one window, that takes time. We need to get done starting xi places sorted first

So what's left?

1-2x CB's
Full back cover?
Winger?
Another ST?

Think if we can get Keane in I'd like us to also approach someone like Llorente/Lemos/Mawson/Bramble as one new CB for me isn't enough.

Just Keane and one other and it'd be a successful window.

Wouldn't that be so un Everton!

Don't know, but will find out.

Also, we agreed terms with Cuco Martina ages ago, but Koeman got cold feet after being impressed with Jonjoe Kenny of late, so no contract has been presented for signing. Yet.

Let's hope it stays that way. Kenny, Holgate and Connolly can manage till Coleman is back. Left-back is where we need cover.

cb (Keane), left back cover (Amavi or Sarr maybe?), another striker (Dolberg, Dembele, Iheanacho etc) and a wide player with pace (Balde?)

IF Lukaku and or Barkley go then another player who can play wide (creative player) - sigurdsson, another striker (Vardy, Giroud etc), and gut instinct says we will go big on a top top centre back (Koulibaly, Manolas etc)

1-2x CB's - Keane & Lemos or Sarr
Full back cover? - Left back cover only, we have Kenny and Holgate who can both play there until Seamus is back
Winger? - Depending on if Barkley stays and if Koeman is playing 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 etc
Another ST? - Dembele or another to replace Lukaku

Hopefully none will be either, Martina will be available throughout the summer - so absolutely no need to not give kenny the chance
