In an ideal world, I wouldn't want Cuco, but Kenny has barely kicked a ball for the first team, so even though he looks an exciting prospect, it might end up being a step too far for him at this moment. We won't know until he's given a chance. Holgate filled in there for Coleman and did a solid job but the issue is that because he isn't a natural right back, we badly missed the attacking threat that Coleman gives us. Going into the season with just Kenny and Holgate available at right back would be a risk. Difficult call really, I can see the argument either way, but if we do sign Cuco, you'd hope it'd be on a short contact (1-2 years) so that Kenny's route to the first team isn't blocked.

A lot may depend on what Koeman sees from Kenny when they report back for pre-season training. Hopefully Kenny will be aware of the need to impress

This. The thing I'm worried about is once Coleman comes back, I don't want another player hanging around the place stealing a living.
 
Does anyone think there is any truth in these rumours we're after brozovic of inter. Does anyone know much about him? What type of player is he?
 

I'm sure I saw we were linked to Cedric @ Southamption as well, this would have been before the season finished.

Don't know what his contract situation is, but he looks tidy and would fill in at RB very well.

Doing well at the Confederations Cup from what I have seen, would make more sense than Martina certainly.

He can play right across midfield, which would be a great asset. If he was at Everton I would see him on the right. Could do with adding a few more goals to his game but technically very accomplished as you would expect from a Croatian international.

He can be a bit of a loose cannon though with poor discipline. Certainly quite a narky, snidey guy but in truth I think we are lacking a bad smell character like that.

I would be happy if we got him given how many roles he could cover. I think we need strengthening in defence and attack first though, rather than another midfielder.

I read he is available at £19m, if we had it to spend and got our other targets in, he would be welcome in my book.

Cheers fella. We definitely need more creativity in the team and his versatility as you said would be a welcome bonus. Inter have financial problems, so maybe there is some truth in this rumour. He could well have been one of the targets Walsh discussed in Italy last week.

Do you reckon we are waiting on signing new players before getting rid of the deadwood?
Potential outs is frightening in terms of numbers:
  • McGeady - Preston, M'boro or championship club - £2m
  • Niasse - low-level Prem club or big-spending Championship or Turkish club - £8-10m
  • Jagielka - will want 1st team football. Hope he stays though. £1m
  • Funes Mori - just not good enough. Need to sell while stock is high - £15m
  • McCarthy - will want to leave, too good to be 5th/6th choice - £20m
  • Robles - will he want 1st team football? In last 12 months of his deal? £3-5m
  • Deulofeu - gone or going. Hope he stays though. £10.5m
  • Barkley - no idea what is happening here. Think he will go if we are offered £45m
  • Kone - gone, thank the lord. Released
  • Lukaku - think he might end up staying. Could be disruptive. Will go if we get £80m+ offer though I think
  • Cleverley - gone, thank the lord - £8m
  • Barry - will he want 1st team football? Could go for £1m fee.
  • Valencia - gone
  • Steklenberg - will he want 1st team football. Could go or be released.
  • Besic - some have said he should be sold. I disagree.
  • Tarashaj - surely this kid isnt up to the task? Another loan potentially?
  • Garbutt and Galloway - hope they both stay and fight it out for the backup LB spot.

All of this and we need a BIGGER squad..... :pint2:

Add Lennon to that list as well.

Can't see us selling Mori, Barry, Robles, Besic or Galloway this window at all.

Garbutt not up to it, Tarashaj never been here so unlikely to be missed, Niasse, Cleverley, Del and Mcgeady all been elsewhere already so also not great stress in losing those.

Kone and Valencia already released and will be replaced with some quality. Jags to be replaced by Keane is a good move if it happens.
