Summer Transfer Window 2017

For the players we are looking to offload - then the chances are the prices will rise for them later in the window as teams leaving it late get a bit more desperate.

Not actually bothered if we sign no one in August at all if we have got all the players we set out for and the manager/Walsh wanted, be nice to be in a position and to have the finances though to get all our business done, and then see if any late bargain suddenly becomes available, having all our business done by then would give us a significant advantage over teams still trying to get main deals over the line etc

I see us - like you - getting the players we need regardless of sales in early.

I'd say that's between 4-6 players, 2 of which are confirmed and one more seems to be.

The others:

- 1 CB (Keane)
- 1 FB (Martina, probs)
- 1 playmaker (possibly Brozovic, Sigurdsson?) - this may depend on Ross' future

I'd then say that an extra LB and an extra ST - with the squad as it stands at the minute - are needed, but may be targeted later in the window.

This would set us up well heading into pre-season but also give us the leeway with player sales.

Barkley and Rom are the big ones. If Barkley goes, I don't really see it changes our plans too much (if he goes, I think we'll have either already signed his replacement or will go out and get one sorted quickly. I hope he stays though)

Lukaku - well if he does go (which I do expect), we need another two strikers.

Then, if we ship out Mori/Jags, we'll have room for another CB.

You went too early today mate, Echo just announced sandro has signed and will be announced today ;)

Don't be offended, throughout the day i will be pointing out how two faced you all are regarding the echo.

Good news this, especially as it looks like we are very much a closed shop on not letting out what our real intentions are to rags like the Echo.

It's the Echo mate so means absolutely nothing as they have zero sources at the club

I personally think IF Rom goes then we will bring another striker or two in and go big on another cb mate

cb (Keane), left back cover (Amavi or Sarr maybe?), another striker (Dolberg, Dembele, Iheanacho etc) and a wide player with pace (Balde?)

IF Lukaku and or Barkley go then another player who can play wide (creative player) - sigurdsson, another striker (Vardy, Giroud etc), and gut instinct says we will go big on a top top centre back (Koulibaly, Manolas etc)

Sarr is a CB back mate and highly rated. I could see us movin for Mendy at left back which would be a good buy.

Sarr would be fantastic alongside a Keane this summer.

I suspect we are getting the key ins in. Well start moving lads out and we may start seeing more experimental Walsh type signings as the window goes on.

Hopefully none will be either, Martina will be available throughout the summer - so absolutely no need to not give kenny the chance

Kenny will get given the chance even if Martina signs early mate, I reckon.

Honestly think Martina would be pure back-up for the kids. It wouldn't be smart to head into this season with two 20-yr-olds as our FB options IMO - especially when one of them is more of a CB.

Maybe so mate, i am just of the opinion that I hope our days of bringing dross in to just fill numbers is over, why give a contract to a player who is plain and simple not good enough at the level

Who plays if those two are out? Well, we have barry, mccarthy, besic, Davies, barkley.

Who plays if Coleman, Baines or lukaku gets injured? Kenny, Connelly or DCL. Our alternatives for those midfield positions are much better than other areas.

We can't go out and get two quality players for each position in one window, that takes time. We need to get done starting xi places sorted first

I don't think you read the conversation :o

I get the thinking but looking at it realistically Koeman is a pessimistic manager.

He's not going to risk going into possibly a 50-game season with two kids in that position, I don't think.

Those kids are undeniably very good prospects but at the end of the day will need to be rotated at times if their form drops or injuries hit. There's nothing wrong with getting a player like Martina in as cover. We have no need to spend big in that position but we do need cover while Seamus is out.

If Seamus wasn't injured, I have no doubt that we probably wouldn't bother with Cuco.

Yeah, I think you're right

In an ideal world, I wouldn't want Cuco, but Kenny has barely kicked a ball for the first team, so even though he looks an exciting prospect, it might end up being a step too far for him at this moment. We won't know until he's given a chance. Holgate filled in there for Coleman and did a solid job but the issue is that because he isn't a natural right back, we badly missed the attacking threat that Coleman gives us. Going into the season with just Kenny and Holgate available at right back would be a risk. Difficult call really, I can see the argument either way, but if we do sign Cuco, you'd hope it'd be on a short contact (1-2 years) so that Kenny's route to the first team isn't blocked.

A lot may depend on what Koeman sees from Kenny when they report back for pre-season training. Hopefully Kenny will be aware of the need to impress

Definitely mate, and we have Davies there as options.

But I can see Cuco signing early in July and just basically being there ready.

Koeman knows what he'll get from him so it's just a case of him being signed and available if required.
