Barkley was home grown so he was there before Bobby so he doesn't count
Geri never made the grade so he doesn't count
Bobby didn't sign Mirallas so he doesn't count
I said don't mention Lukaku as he was a proven PL goal scorer
So who else in the attacking side of the game did Bobby sign.
I'll tell you who NO ONE.
At the start of the season except for Lukaku there will be no Bobby signings in the first 11
Who signed mcgeady, and Naismith

Very good post.

Final thing on this because I didn't mean to derail the thread. I agree, if Sunderland or any other top championship club want our players then that's absolutely great. I only meant to pass comment on the 'why don't we just send them to (insert club name here)' attitude that we sometimes see on here, as if Everton have the choice of sending a young player to whichever club they choose. I might be wrong, but the noises the club has made suggest that Everton would be very keen to send Dowell out on loan to the right club. The fact he hasn't been loaned though, suggests that the 'right clubs' aren't interested in taking him. That's what I think people sometimes overlook.
Yeah I understood your original post mate. I knew you were referring to the fans, rather than the club, as being arrogant.

Personally I'm still undecided on the effectiveness of our loans policy. Sometimes it works but mostly they don't. Some, like Garbutt, Galloway and Barkley, have been totally disastrous. I reckon we have 3 players who are now above U23 level, but not quite ready for first team, who could benefit from a loan to the right club. Connolly, Walsh and Dowell. I may even include DCL in that list depending in how many new attackers we bring in this window. You have to agree that these are all top quality for their age. Connolly, Walsh and DCL I have no issues with in that I believe they will fit in nicely wherever they go. Dowell needs to go to the right club that can accommodate a player like him and I'd like to see him go abroad tbh. Maybe Holland or France. Not sure the championship will suit his game at all.

...not sure if he's referring to Walsh. Indeed, I haven't got a clue who he means.
You would have to assume he meant Walsh mate. Since Vint left he's the only person who fits the "sporting director" description.

Don't think Walshy will be very happy he's being quoted on national TV. Don't think he'll be having many more chats with Mr Mariner, if it's even true of course.

Agree but take no offence from people suggesting such things we won't be able to spend £55m like the mags or £70m+ like Villa so we will be loaning some players given how small our squad will be. Out of our young players Gooch possibly Asoro and Embleton will be around the first team squad this season
There are some really good players in the under 23 team...maybe not Premiership ready yet but in time they should be premiership players.

Dowell is an enigma... he has all the talent in the world, scores great goals, very creative, big strong lad... but, for some reason he can drift out of games and can let games pass him by. If he can work on and eradicate the deficiencies in his game he can be a great player at premiership level.

Pennington.... Very good solid defender , in need of experience, already had a very successful loan term at Coventry, played a couple of league games with Everton last season but will struggle to get in the team this season.. a very good player to get for a championship club.... the same is true of Browning and possibly Galloway, maybe even Garbutt.

These are not bad players to be dumped , these are good young players that will get better with games.

It may not be at Sunderland, but if they are not playing with you this season I think they may be playing against you.

Either way, I wish you well for the season. A club I have always liked for some reason.

...it's a strange one. I notice most of Mariner's recent years have been spent in the US.
