Summer Transfer Window 2017

I'd hate for us to go all the way to the semis or final and lose, and only finish mid table in the league.
Same. All hypothetical ofc but look at the way top European leagues are shaping up atm i think the with our coefficient it's more probable we'll get a struggle facing resurgent AC Milan/Inter type or Dortmund in CL play off than a CL group stage whipping boy dropdown from Bulgaria in the latter stages of EL

I am old enough to remember Kendalls team coming out of nowhere.

Have some faith.
I remember a cup game when we were almost knocked out by Oxford or Oldham and clawed our way back in and then we just didn't aeem to lose very often after that. Was weird. Pretty much same players but they clicked as a team. Others probably remember it differently but that's my recollection of whe it started.

That would make heads spin

Yes it has, but probably not enough to seriously compete with teams above us, especially if we then get rid of our main source of goals. Id imagine come the end of the season we will be 7th and have a similar gap to clubs beneath us but hopefully be a little closer to those above us... that would at least be progress.
Not sure what you mean when you say we can't seriously compete with clubs above us. We showed we could compete in first few months of 2017 when we're in a great run of form. Our consistency let us down and I think we lost motivation towards end of season when we had nothing to play for. I think we lack consistency and the killer instinct against teams below us but we can compete with the every one but Cheslea with this squad.

I think people are massively missing the point wanting marquee signings. Look at Arsenal, they buy a marquee signing every season more or less and still do no more than the occasional cup win. We have to build a team that competes and believes in itself. I want to see an Everton team that is scared of nobody! If we manage to get that we will get to the stage where we have a side that can play football against the footballing sides, and kick lumps out of the likes of your Stokes etc.

The players we have brought in are young and (from what i have seen and read) full of confidence, fight and self belief. When you add the likes of Tom Davies, Morgan Schneiderlin, Gana Gueye to that list then we can field a team that will in my opinion immediately end this culture of bottling it against the better teams.

I want a steady, sustainable growth that can be the basis of a successful period in our history. i will be more than happy with the same position next year if we win a derby or two, do Arsenal at their place and get a win against Chelsea, Man U etc. That kind of winning mentality, amongst young hungry players is attractive to other young hungry players. We should stop wanting the high profile superstars, look to have a good mix of skill, grit and determination and we might find ourselves with something resembling the 80's side? COYB!

I want Messi on a one year loan for £100m

Alright lads been a cracking window for us so far! Can't wait for more news on signings. I've been looking on twitter for news and this guy reckons we are in for strikers next. Not sure how reliable he is though.

What do we think lads? I'd be delighted with Giroud, but [Poor language removed] Jansenn.

To be fair West Ham are always linked with tonnes of players over the summer transfer period. My mate who is a Hammers fan is always moaning they get linked with crap loads of players and end up with someone like Snodgrass. Is it really any wonder we get linked to the same players as them a lot of the time.
The dildo boys are forever blowing their trumpets about who they are looking at and bidding on to the fans to big up themselves and the club. My mate reckons they should just shut the hell up and stop embarrassing themselves
Unfortunately where you finish in the league usually shows the prospective player what kind of club you are joining and the teams realistic chances of getting anywhere. At the moment we just look a better prospect than them and long may it continue.
Which emphasises how difficult it was last year having finished in the bottom half twice.

Well we've committed £30m on a 23 year old GK from a relegated side and the same amount on a CB from Burnley that only had a year left on his deal so I have no doubts that if Koeman is seriously keen on Sigurdsson then he isn't going to be put off by their valuation of him and will get Walsh on the case!

Apart from Martina probably being the next one in, I think things will slow down now and probably drag out. Giroud want be a straight forward deal seen has though he wants to see what business Arsenal do when it comes to attacking players and Sigurdsson won't be a quick deal to do either although I think we will get it done! Rooney could possibly drag out aswell depending on the kind of deal we can strike with Utd?! Heard talk of a loan deal where Utd will help us with Rooney's wages and IF that is the case then that's the best possible deal all round involving Rooney imo!....
Possibly loan deal with Rooney taking a cut in wages. Depends how much he wants it. If he does show that desire to come here it may help to get some of our fan base who are currently against it to welcome him back.

...after manic Monday, here's a round up of rumours for Tuesday morning;

- The Daily Star reports Olivier Giroud wants to stay at Arsenal despite interest from Everton.

- TalkSport say a return to Everton is inevitable for Manchester United's Wayne Rooney. The Express report that the players wages are a sticking point.

- The Express suggest Everton made enquiries for Alexandre Lucazette before Arsenal took control of the race. The Mail said Everton backed off once they knew Arsenal were keen.

- The Express also report Manchester United will make £7.5m from Michael Keane's move to Everton.

- According to Clubcall website, Antonio Conte has told the Chelsea hierarchy to do whatever it takes to acquire Romelu Lukaku but The Mirror say Diego Costa's demands have put the Lukaku move on hold. Apparently, Costa insists he'll decide when he wants to leave.

- The Express report Everton are now keen on Bournemouth's Josh King.
