Summer Transfer Window 2017

Pickford isn't ready, he looks better than he is as he spends all day making saves in that woeful Sunderland team. He lacks experience at the minute which means he is positionally naive, it will come with time but we need a top goalie now, not in a few years.
Every top team needs a top goalkeeper and if we want to really challenge then we have to go out and get one, problem is there aren't many available. For me the best option is Butland, he's a class act already, has so much improvement in him and would be getable, the obvious problem is how he has recovered from injury and will he get the chance to prove it before the end of the season

Experience? they have played similar amounts of games.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U and City might all need a keeper this summer. Pickford will probably be top two or three on each of their list.

Sunderland are getting relegated, not in a strong negotiating situation.

If we believe he will be great in a few years, now is the time. Not when he actually is great.

Pickford was poor for at least two of Utds goals. Should've saved them but made over-elaborate, highlight reel dives. Not saying he's a bad keeper but he's certainly being made to look better than he probably is by how busy he is.

I'd rather Schmeichal, of the two of them. Bit of a dearth of good keepers available at the moment tbh
we don't HAVE to buy from the prem

Pickford is tailor made for Guardiola mate, he's absolutely brilliant with his distribution.

Agree with a lot of what your saying though. Hard to judge how a keeper from a terrible side will get on at a good one as requires them to have attributes they won't have had the need to show, namely staying focused and concentrated in a game their not having much to do.
I'm more interested in what Pickford can do between the sticks rather than his distribution. Likewise if guardiola had thought the same he wouldn't have persisted with those 2 clowns in goal all season at the expense of hart. As a club we need to attract good players with great potential, before they become the finished article and you have to pay silly amounts for and the added competition from champions league clubs. Pickford ticks the right boxes for me, as he has the potential to be a great keeper and he is already far better than Robles.

His distribution is fabulous...if you don't think so then, no offence but how can you say he needs to make 'so much improvement'?

He's a top keeper.
Claudio bravo has fantastic distribution apparently, but a goalkeeper that does not make. I didn't mention Pickfords distribution as an area to improve, I said his positional sense needs to improve and I have seen nothing from him to suggest he will be anything but a good shot stopper

I don't think that we should ignore distribution. As far as I am concerned that is what is holding Robles back from being a top keeper. Robles is a very good shot stopper and he has improved to be at least adequate for controlling his box, but everytime he kicks the ball up field it is just giving possession to the other team. I would love to see someone like pickford snagging a ball and then pinging it right down the channel for Rom to run onto.

There is NOTHING wrong with Robles distribution!

This is getting mad now. Unless people are judging his goal kicks etc which is a nonsense as every keeper will just hoof it in a general direction then what is actually wrong with it? He can throw the ball out pretty well (There was a boss one in the Leicester game where he hauled the ball half the length of the pitch straight to Mirallas (I think it was him).

Its also worth pointing out that as great as our front man is, winning balls in the air that have been pumped down the field is not his strongest attribute to put it mildly.

Its fine!

Not worried at all about Robles' distribution.

I'm just worried about his general ability to make saves.

"Truly sauced" my ar$e. Only a couple of weeks ago he came out with the bollards that Everton wouldn't be making any statement r.e the ground development, just LCC.

Got that one badly wrong as well didn't he? He's got plenty wrong and is just as jarg as the rest of the ITK wannabes.

Keep making stabs and you'll hit a few eventually!
The club barely did make an announcement they just rehashed what Anderson said with Elstone hanging around like a bad smell. It was hardly a statement

Pickford a "top keeper" LOL. Think that term gets thrown around a bit too much, same with "world class" managers. IMO you're not a top or world class player/manager unless you carry the team to success on your own. Pickford has not done that with Sunderland. I agree he deserves to stay in top flight play, but can't yet be looked at as a top keeper; he has some dues to pay.

World class managers are ones that have had relative EUROPEAN success in at least two different leagues. But that's just how I feel.

Didn't realise Pickford had played that many games already, which worries me more as after 140 games he should now be able to work out were to place himself.
I don't believe he will be great in a few years and certainly don't think any of the "big" teams would want him as a starter, he may go to one to warm the bench and boost their home grown quota.
Of goalkeepers from this league who could be signed in the summer I'd want Butland, Hart or even Heaton higher than Pickford on our list
