In this system our fullbacks need to be offering us energy and overlapping to provide width, a 33/34 year old Baines imo is not going to offer either.

Everything what was good about Baines is fading, his energy, his set pieces, crossing - are now very mediocre.

Roger Federer does OK at 35.

As far as I know, LB has always looked after himself. He should be good for a couple of seasons yet.

People love Roger Federer references on here when it's an age debate. Federer last won a grand slam when he was 30, he's now 35 so please stop it.

You have no idea which players we have or havent approached.

Not every approach from clubs is highlighted in the press, we have spoken to most of the Agents in the game in the last few months and we will have an idea of who is and isnt interested.

According to the media United have spent all Summer trying to sign Perisic and the vermin across the park VVD.

Its really cool to slate Ashley Williams and claim Baines is finished, the reality is that both are good players and will do us in good stead the next season, sure we could do with a few more players in certain areas, but we havent finished our business this window, lets see what the squad looks like at the end of the window before we settle for 7th again yeah.

Don't get me wrong I'm happy with the business done but I just don't see us realistically blowing teams away with the players we have signed thus far. I think we are good for 7th again maybe 6th if Spurs fall apart at Wembley, but that 15 point gap or so from last season I can't see being clawed back especially with Lukaku out the door.

We need one or the other for me. An absolute monster centre back, better than Keane, or a fantastic little dribbler man in attack. Or both, but I doubt we can afford that.

Did you watch the game on Thursday? His passing was awful, and his reluctance to get forward and cross is baffling. He is still living off the notion that he was a free kick expert, his last, being West Ham away, Roms Debut.

Baines is fine.

Yes we need a new left-back - one that can eventually take over - but Baines is far from finished.
