I guess this is maybe a cost saving exercise so they don't need to sign two players? Although with Baines - in my opinion - close to finished, we'll need both positions anyway soon.

..I understand the logic but that's a short-term approach. As you say, Baines hasn't got too many seasons but Jagielka and Williams are also the wrong side of 30.

Well I'd say we have had one of them in Barkley for that last few years - but he hasn't delivered consistently enough. Same with Geri, same with Rom.

They don't necessarily bring success.

Not even close to kancho...think Rooney when he first came through...

You've lost the plot Zat; lookman isn't even remotely close, in any form, to be on the same level as Andrei the Great.

Hes had handful of games in the PL, he's looked ok in a few but the rest he's looked totally out of his depth. Poor decision making, running into trouble, poor control.

I didn't say he was....some of the posters in here @MorgsGoat included need to brush up on their English....hes a of a similar or the same ilk means the same type of player or a similar type of player...In the sense of him bringing excitement

ilk
(ɪlk)
n
1. a type; class; sort (esp in the phrase of that, his, her, etc, ilk): people of that ilk should not be allowed here.
2. of that ilk Scot of the place of the same name: used to indicate that the person named is proprietor or laird of the place named: Moncrieff of that ilk.
[Old English ilca the same family, same kind; related to Gothic is he, Latin is, Old English gelīc like]
Usage: Although the use of ilk in the sense of sense 1 is sometimes condemned as being the result of a misunderstanding of the original Scottish expression of that ilk, it is nevertheless well established and generally acceptable

Did it come from Koeman?

Koeman said we want a Ross replacement, a Lukaku replacement and a Mori replacement.

Anyway, that Lemina fella from Juve is the 1.

A strong, hard-working, and dynamic right-footed midfielder, with good technique and solid distribution, Lemina is a box-to-box player who is usually deployed in the centre, due to his ability to start attacking plays after winning back possession. Due to his tactical versatility, he is capable of playing in several positions, and has been deployed as a winger, as a full-back, or as a wing-back, on the right flank; during his time with Marseille, he also played as centre-back in a three-man defence on occasion, during the 2014–15 season, under manager Marcelo Bielsa.

It was around that time of that embargo for sure; Echo just recycling.

I like Lemina but he doesn't solve our LB crisis - and yes I deem it a crisis. Dendoncker is the better midfielder/CB choice. For £22m+ I'd go for him and a specialist left back.

Baines is done.

Cuco Martina excites me.

Hes of the same ilk as Cafu.

Imagine a 25-year old Gaz in the squad sweet Jesus he'd be worth £100m.
It was more than a bit tongue in cheek like but he's not the worse choice in the world as a back stop emergency. TBH, if we're going to bring in a new CB I'd rather bring in somebody who will improve the starting XI rather than be cover for numerous positions. I'd go for Gibson personally and I know you're a fan too. Then next summer bring in a proper left back to cover and ultimately replace Baines.

I'm not sure GazBaz was such a great player at 25 actually. He's one of those rare players that kept himself fit and has improved with age/experience.

Same with us when we got Kanchelskis....he could get the ball on the halfway line and we all stood up,,,,

The only player we have of that ilk is Lookman...

Someone that an opposition fan would pay to watch...that was Kanchelskis all day long.

We've already learned to not bother, as he's going to run into someone's legs within 15 yards.

The lad has promise but he's very raw and is nothing more than potential at this level at the minute imo.

Shut up Zat.

He gets people off their seat because he's lost the ball within 10 seconds of getting it and everyone is fuming.
