I've been thinking this all along, imagine if we get dembele and tierney. With the emergence of kenny and dowell, the return of that Nigerian kid from Belgian league and we'll stack the team with 5 dribbler capable of constantly creating havoc which makes them impossible to mark closely all at the same time.

Writing off this season.

I'm more than happy to see him replace Ross than siggy. Both in terms of transfer fee and the ability to run with the ball.

Better right now? No, probably not. He is definitely a better fit than both of them as he can take on that deep-lying play maker role. It's the one thing that can keep Barry in this game for a couple years yet. Besic is lighting quick on the turn and could be an asset if he could stay healthy. McCarthy at his best can press really well and link up play with his work rate. They all provide something we are lacking in the current squad right now... It's a shame the latter have been plagued with injuries throughout their Everton careers.

Disagree with that completely.

He may well be 36 but he looked comfortable still in pre season and played loads last season to a competent level. Sure, wouldn't start him vs City but we could be playing 50 or 60 games this season, and he can play three positions.

Still got so much ability and it's a shame to see him leave.

And this was my initial argument, the wages can be better utilised
