Summer Transfer Window 2017

It was a freebie. We had nothing to lose. Just go for it. Koeman didn't though, and I suspect it's the reason Moyes didn't go for it against so called big teams in the past: too concerned with preserving his own reputation and not wanting a tonking to damage it.
And martinez?

For me the benchmark for a new signing has to be one thing - "Would this player start for any of the current top 6?", not just "Would they improve the squad?" This is why I'm absolutely not having these Amavi/Pickford etc. shouts.

For example, Coleman would start for City. Gueye would most likely start for Spurs, Schneids for Liverpool, Lukaku for Chelsea etc. hey ho, lo and behold, those 4 happen to be our best players.

Would Mirallas start for a top 6 side? Funes Mori/Williams/Baines? Not a chance. So we need to replace them, whether it's with established quality like Van Dijk or outcasts from the other big clubs that could come good - Alderweireld, Schneids etc. This summer is where Walsh really has to start earning his badges.

The Echo are reporting Everton are scouting 16-year old wunderkind Callum Styles from Bury.

I say sign him, Tosin Adarabioyo, George Hirst and make it casually known to City that this is the response they should expect every time they attempt to poach a youth player from Merseyside.

We should be mopping up more like those anyway. The idea of an U23/reserve side is to facilitate the first team.

Bring in the best kids around, stick them in a team playing the exact same way as the first team, then promote them if they've developed enough. Rocket science nope.

Agreed, but I still want Moshiri to build a wall around Merseyside and get Manchester to pay for it. Wait...

I dont know how you can say that with authority though. It only takes one delivery at 2-1 down and it's all to play for.
Apologies Dave. How dare I state as fact was is obviously only an opinion.:coffee:

What was in the back of my mind when I made that post, but didn't make clear, is that we have nobody like Del who we can throw on when teams park the bus. Players like Del can make a difference against any team as you say, as they offer that something different. He did it against Arsenal away and Liverpool in the 3-3 home game, both in his first stint with us.

A tonking damages team morale just as much as it does the manager's reputation. It can also shake the players' belief in what the manager is asking them to do.

Would love us to come out early doors with a statement signing like laporte from bilbao,
That and a deal for Rooney would set us up quite nicely.
Gets us paper space, and European agents talking about us to their clients, but more importantly gets us a quality young left footed (?) centre half, and (if it works out) a big name, experienced backup to both rose and rom

He doesn't do it now though that's the problem. he comes on, runs into a defender and then we basically play with 10 men.

Shame as he obviously has talent but i think he is going to have to find himself elsewhere as we don't really have that luxury right now.
