Can’t see us going for Rabiot and Gomes. It could just be lazy journalism as we’re part of a transfer chain. We stump up the money for Gomes and Barca probably replace him with Rabiot.

I don’t get this potential Sosa signing . Suspect he won’t qualify for a work permit unless he has dual nationality which a lot of Argentinian players do have . Ok we are buying players at source and price is cheaper but surely we need players especially in midfield for this season ? Will this be another Onyekuru situation? Will be just be loaned out season after season ? Surely Brands and Co would have a good idea re work permit before deal is done ?

I think he'll make it. He needs 4 points on appeal, the fee is not that small, they just need to pay him a decent wage and he'll have a pretty good shot. He's also got some pretty good circumstances as to why he's not playing in the Copa Liberadores, which would've definitely made him eligible, at least as River will probably attest to.

So in my transfermarkt filter I see a 17 year old Brazilian playing for Flumenese worth a whopping 20m already! Scrolling down I see he has been picked up by Watford for 2.5m affective January 2020...

Now that is pretty impressive. Need to research this Argentinian kid of ours.. maybe.

Joao has been amazing in the Copa Liberadores. He's a complete freak. It's hard to believe he's only 17. That valuation just jumped though I'm pretty sure.

Brands stated:

Big fees, lower wages.

The wage bill is causing problems here, so a player who commands close to 200k a week is more than likely going elsewhere.

The links to Sosa and Under would match the remit more.

Brands will know who and what to target.
9 mil per year is 173 k per week

Sounds a lot ?
Of course it is , but to be competing at the top end of the Prem its the price you pay.

Some day wether its now or sometime in the future we will have to pay that sort of salary.

Gylfi 150k per wk & Schneiderlin 120k per week with at the time hefty transfer fees puts things into perspective.

Didn't Silva also play a role in bringing Richarlison to Watford, considering he was also a dof he has a good eye for talent aswell so he must think Sosa is ready aswell
I highly doubt Silva has seen Sosa before maybe the U20 tournament if he's even there. Brands was by several source at the U20 South American championship to scout Sosa. I am HOPEFUL he also saw some other players - Argentina played the champs, Ecuador a few times, and I think their CB, Jackson Porozo, has looked amazing. Huge, can move, can pass, aggressive, looks like a complete freak. He's at Santos in Brazil, but hasn't cracked the first team yet. Another is his left back, Diego Palacios, both are complete physical beasts. Both made the U20 tournament team.

This chap Sosa is definitely someone who fits the mould of whaf Silva wants as a DM.

I like that rather than signing good players were pinpointing players to fit specific positions within a specific strategy / playing style.
