But Al Myers said on twitter we were close.

He couldn't confirm how close, or what we were actually close to (might have meant he's close to a radiator or close to getting home) but we are close to something.
We're broke. We have two options open to us right now:
1: Teams sell us their best players and let us pay for them on the drip over the next decade - funnily enough teams aren't happy with our terms.
2: We go for free agents but we now have the Saudi's to compete with who are offering any player even vaguely capable of playing at premier league standard silly money. That's why Rodrigo went there and i'm 99% certain that'll be why Dembele hasn't signed for anyone. He's waiting for that Saudi money.
In the process of destroying our club Moshiri and Bill appear to have angered almost every other team in the league so loans don't appear to be an option right now and no one is doing us any favours.

Good times as someone once said

for my sins i was listening to the Royal Blue podcast last night and it really is grim. No deals imminent, need to sell at least one big asset to make any serious moves and they were suggesting Dom won't be fit for the start of the season. It does feel like what is the point at this stage.
I wouldn't worry too much; they kbow as much as the rest of us on here.

As has been pointed out before, the club seem to have got on top of the leaks that used to take place, so anything you see is just guesswork from the fans.

Just enjoy the summer and try not to worry about Everton just yet

It's like an old episode of Yes Minister
James Hacker:
You said you'd heard this rumour, I said is it true, you said yes!
Bernard Woolley:
I said yes, it was true that it was a rumour.
James Hacker:
You said you heard it was true!
Bernard Woolley:
No, I said it was true that I heard it!
Annie Hacker:
I'm sorry to cut into this important discussion, but do you believe it?
James Hacker:
I believe I heard it.

OR

Nothing's happening?

Villa are in for Gnonto now so we know how that one ends.

We're genuinely going into the season with no new faces and a significantly worse squad that almost got us relegated last season. lol

Wage bill is still massive.

If people honestly thought we would be spending this summer have got it completely wrong.

We have at least another 12 months of this.
A different take on FFP - has it saved us from the worst excesses of a terrible board and owner ?

They could be loading the club with even more debt for rubbish / expensive players right now.

Or someone sets fire to Finch Farm and claims on the insurance.

It’s easier said than done but you’re right, 99% of the time journalists and podcasts have no idea what’s happening but still have to churn out the content, so it’s speculation and guesswork. There’s no point hanging on every word.

Nothing is close or tofeenut would have told us, the first premier league payment was at the end of last week so we should see some movement, this week is historical when we see the first signings starting to appear
