Why would you want to come here to play half a season though.

Disagree to be honest, take Spurs they've been trying to do it for years and wasted millions and ended up just signing wide forwards as opposed to 9's.

Any remotely decent striker would fancy themselves to play ahead of DCL. He’s not Dixie Dean. He’s an average Prem striker that is literally never fit anyway.

"Get down to Goodison Park - wooooooo!".

An anthem for the tomes and idiocy of the club we're stuck with.
I was quite looking forward to ending my near 5 year exile from going to games this season as there won’t be too many chances to before the move but the deck shuffling and keeping the self proclaimed GEOAT on is deeply concerning and I’d much rather keep my money if that’s the level of change

They have Kane mate, everyone else is a wide forward.

That what we will brin gin, in my opinion mate a wide forward.

Funny thing is by then end we might spend as much on it as we did selling Richarlison.
Regardless, Son was top scorer two seasons ago.

The Kenwright out pressure should never have stopped, in fact it should have been stepped up when the season ended and especially when Moshiri begged him to stay on interim because of his expertise in transfers. Ignorant and catastrophic decision and it was obvious what was coming and it will continue to be like this till the day he is removed, ditto the line manager Kev.

People need to get active en masse again because we are definitely going to get relegated if we go into the season as we currently are. Even Dyche has got zero confidence in their abilities to lead the club, you can tell by the way he is speaking.

Reading the above is depressing, success for Everton Football Club is not getting relegated, but it is realistic. I love the optimism of some on here, it makes me smile when they talk about the doom merchants. I read a post admonishing someone for being negative about the new season based on a few preseason games, the last two seasons no longer seem to count. I am a glass half full type of person but I am not stupid, in order to be optimistic I need something to be optimistic about. I don’t see any basis for optimism at Everton at the moment.
Young is a plus but not because he is going to come in and drive us forward but purely because he is better than what we have, a 38 year old released by a club who a while back we didn’t consider to be our equal. Danjuma couldn’t get a game at Spurs, that isn’t as bad as it may seem given the forwards they have. I am hopeful for him provided he plays in his best position and not shoehorned into a central role because we couldn’t buy an out and out centre forward. I hope DCL plays 35 games and scores 20 goals but that is hope not expectation. I heard Stuart Pearce talking about the time he was relegated with Forest, he said the players knew they were going down before it happened, he said they knew they hadn’t the players in their squad to stay up. It sent a chill through because I know we haven’t got the players in our squad to stay up this year. We need something more in this window, not a loan player not a free transfer but someone of significance. The problem is we are on a downward trajectory, all of football knows it and doesn’t want to be part of it, but the most damaging thing is that no one at the club seems to be able to arrest that fall.
I am a man of some years, my first Everton memory is Jeff Astle‘s cup final goal, I have never felt this disheartened going into a new season. However I am the consummate Blue, as the Fulham game gets going the hope will overtake the rational thinking and for a while I will believe the Gods of Football will look kindly on Everton Football Club.

This 100%.

Still think we will bring another three in myself mate.

More concerned that we have have likely worked our way down our list.
I guess we will bring in a few by deadline day but I suspect they will be old war horses that may be able to help out Dyche in the relegation battle. Very little hope of any plan or signs of development. If we somehow manage to survive then this thread will be identical next summer

That doesn't stack up for me. Everyone in the industry knows that DCL wont be playing half a season's worth of football, so there's no off putting in that sense. And in any case, it's not the first time any club has a top striker and seeks to add to their ranks. It happens all the time.
The uncomfortable truth is that DCL is the answer to our main problem, on the pitch. Brighton match showed this. Unfortunately, we'll be lucky to get him to have a run of games.

We aren't going to be able to afford someone that will score 15-20 goals ( I doubt DCL would even if he gets fit) so next is can he do other jobs like winning the ball in the final third, giving chances to other players?
