People go massively overboard about how bad players are. I'm no fan of Maupay tbh, and he has been dire for us. But he's not the "awful" footballer that many make him out to be. His Premier League stats still show a goal involvement (assist or goal) every 254 minutes.

Che Adams is another one: A goal involvement in the Premier League every 200 mins. Yet some act like he just doesn't belong in the Premier League. Don't get me wrong, I don't really want either Maupay or Adams playing for us, but they're not the 'competition winners' some make them out to be.

There's zero glamour in the names and people have seen them play in the league for lesser sides.

If these had been bought from France or Spain the fume would be less so....until 6 months in.

The same level of fume came at McNeils door too

I mean, isn't the word that our current crop of youngsters isn't great by any means? Seeing a lot of the traditional 'we'll go with what we've got' type messages coming out. The kind that make people rejoice when a Maupay or an Adams is signed.

He is average, an English clogger that likes to hoof and head, and turns as slow as Keane.

Mental how much we over-rate our own players.

Maguire would start for around 14 or 20 prem teams.

That is a wide spread of teams.

The point about Maguire more than anything is affordability.... It is these kind of signings that has us in the shiiite we are in.

I think the only way to retain my sanity with this thread is turn it into a drinking game everytine Maupay , che adams and maguire are mentioned in a post , otherwise I will be overwhelmed by the bleakness of this thread

We could always just use Young on the wings where he'd be more impactful.

I think we could improve in every position and obviously you want as many good players as you can get at the end of the day but I doubt theres any chance of a left back coming in especially if they aren't on a free transfer.
