Adding a player who is notorious for not scoring goals to a team who are notorious for not scoring goals isn’t going to end well.

….the central striker role is not only about scoring goals, especially at Everton. I’m not saying it’s not an important factor but it’s not the be all and end all. We saw the difference to the shape and effectiveness of the team on the rare occasions DCL played. We scored plenty at Brighton, I don’t think DCL got one.

An effective striker will make a big difference even if he’s not prolific himself.

All with MEGA fees no doubt.

It is a cert that Farhad is sitting there biting his knuckles looking at that. ;)

What are these injuries mounting up for Antonio? 95 games in two seasons, not injured since 2021

He had serious issues around 2021 but saw a dietary specialist and made huge changes to his diet and general lifestyle.

Since then he's been available for almost every game.

Saying that, he's 33 so it's still a bit dump.

We also have Patterson, Mykolenko,Onana, Garner, McNeill ,Branthwaite and soon ( hopefully) Chermiti to counterbalance that argument. All 23 or younger not even mentioning Dobbin and Onyango who seem to be part of the first team squad so far this preseason.

I can accept bringing the players over 30 as long as well also bring in the young players which are the future of the club.

Just from the names you listed,

Defence: Patterson, Mykolenko, Branthwaite

Midfield: Garner, Onana, Onyango

Attacking midfield: McNeil, Dobbin

Centre forward: Chermiti

Thats 9 players along with perhaps Cannon, Virginia, Tyrer which makes 12. Thats 50% of a premier league squad.

The club needs to keep adding to this group which in theory brings the wages down (as others are sold or go out of contract) and allows the club to only spend on specific starting players -- of which there should be less.

Here's our top scorers for the last few years. He'd be classed as one of our more prolific players. We just aren't very good and haven't been for about 35 years.

Surprised Rom only got 10 in 2014/15

Do you mean players like Branthwaite, Patterson, Onana, Garner, McNeill and now Chermitie.
We were also thwarted in the Kudus deal by Antony moving to Utd.
Eh? Right, so because we have a handful of scouted talent, we should solve our goalscoring issues (that we have had for many years now) by signing a bad player from the PL, who is 27 and has proven that he doesn't score many goals? I don't follow the logic.
