Summer transfer window 2023

DCL is an interesting one because his value is now completely linked to his long term injury prognosis, which of course the club will know better than anyone. Fully fit he’s probably worth 60-70 in todays market so if youre a club offering 35m and Everton snap your hand off you’d be really concerned about why.

Possibly...depends doesnt it on whether teams think were just poorly run. £35mil would still need a top up if were looking at really going for that player to push us up the table.

That’s a completely false premise on which to frame the argument though. The point is that a large investment isn’t automatically low risk, not that low risk investments aren’t safe. Basic common sense would have told you that.

The reason clubs offer high amounts of money for players is because they believe they will be successful/meet targets which infers that those investments would be seen as "lower risk"...

...than punting all over the shop in a scattergun manner.

Theres many reasons people pay more for quality. Several of them ive listed in this thread.

Youre just talking gibberish at this point and not using any context.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but has anyone raised the issue of possibly losing Mina and Coady this summer? Maybe Gray if he doesn't get game time?
Good point, id forgotten about Gray

@MikeH72 add another £7.5mil to the list to take the incomings to north of £60mil.

Mate come on hahaha? 19m for them two? We'd get about 5m for the pair if we are lucky.

Keane won't be going anywhere, dyche loves him, coady mina Godfrey and holgate will go before him and no one is stupid enough to offer the donkey the wages he's on here.

Reckon we are stuck with him

Theres interest in Maupay...£9mil is the breakeven on the transfer fee for FFP.

Keane id be surprised if we couldnt find a buyer for £10mil.

Agreed, and let's face it you'd have to think DCL will have to keep fit for at least 12-18 months before clubs see him as a worthwhile investment for a fee of much above, say 50 mil. If I were a buying club I'm not taking the word of any expert even after the most vigorous medical exam. The best evidence of long term football fitness is to play regular football for a season or more.

Yeah i thought the same.

Comfortable with him as a starter if DCL was out for a long period?

Some suggestions in Italian media today that Napoli should sign DCL if they sell Osimhen. Also the previous Arsenal and Newcastle links may still be there.

I wonder what happens if someone offered £35-40mil for him.

No club is signing Dom for big money till he can properly prove his fitness.

Smith-Rowe is the profile of player we should not be after. Just like iwobi digne schneiderlin mina etc there's a reason clubs are willing to sell and the player is willing to step down. We should be buying players looking to make the step up like jags arteta Cahill fellaini etc

Smith-Rowe is a good player, been hampered with injuries this season which is a concern though.

The reason he wants out is he knows he won't get into that Arsenal team moving forwards. Just because he's not good enough for title-chasing Arsenal, shouldn't rule him out as not good enough.

A certain Romelu Lukaku amongst others goes against your argument on clubs willing to sell/players willing to join.

Arsenal have form with F.Viera, Kallstrom, Suarez, Soares and Tierney...

...i think we'll see how he does next 3 games and someone may want to take a risk for a 50% off deal.

for every Iwobi there is a Peinaar

For every Jags there is a Keane.

I don’t think you can discount any players based on the stature of their club vis a vis Everton

Can you name me another player in Evertons recent past who took a step down from a bigger club and was a success? Lukaku wanted out the door as soon as he walked though it, he always saw us as a stepping stone and said as much. And just talking about Stones, John Stones is another player who was ready to make a step up.

Coleman, Baines, Lescott etc etc the list goes on

GK Cover: Michael Cooper
CB Cover: Mees Hilgers / Eiran Cashin
LB: David Jurasek / Ryan Giles
RB Cover: Marcus Pedersen
CM: Ramiz Zerrouki / Gustavo Hamer / Dan Neil
CAM: Enzo Le Fee / Ludovic Blas
Wing: Patrick Wimmer / Keito Nakamura
Target Man: Jonas Wind / Gyokeres

Not bloody hard is it.
He's been excellent this year for Plymouth, i have a horrible feeling we may need to look for a 1st choice keeper this summer though
