Can only imagine Davies and Lonergan have been extended to help with the home grown requirements. I can't think of any other reason.

Scott McTom gives me Cleverly vibes.
I get the point. The thing is, he's played over two hundred times for United for a variety of managers. I'm not saying he's great, but they've seen something in him.

Will he improve our midfield? I think so. Is he at the right age? Yes, probably. Will it happen? Nah. He'd still be an uninspiring but likely solid signing.

Agreed. And he is a walking red card that doesn't get them because he plays for United. If he comes here? He'll have 4 a year minimum.
I agree with you about the red card situation to say nothing about giving free kicks away near our own penalty box. Swerve is my advice.

Maguire and McTomminay would defo improve us. Maguire and Tarks centre back together would be great. McTomminay screening with Gana would be great. However I still feel like we need attacking players. Never mind scoring goals, we struggled to get into goal scoring positions.

Linked with players we do not need (cbs and cm), yet very few links with attacking players. Rodrigo from Leeds has a 3 millions release clause, what are we waiting for....unless we can't even afford 3 millions and all the ridiculous links to maguire and mctominay are just noise purposely feed to the media by the board to give the illusion that they are working hard on planning for next season. What are we waiting for? I know deadline day and the usual bs on making many phone calls but unfortunately we are going with what we have as we cannot get better players we already have.

He’s always reminded me of Darren Fletcher in terms of his profile / ability / use to the team. He’s not a bad player…..just not sure how he’d fare in an inferior team.
Absolutely reasonable concerns...he could turn out to be a disappointment. But at least buying him would be an indication of the level we are at in the market i.e. a bit higher than some of us thought

Think both will have more attractive offers than us mate-even if we could afford them.

I like McTominay in a 'he gets stuck in and will give you 100% every week' kind of way, which until we sort out the squad is something we may need. My only fear would be the fee. Utd will be offered close to what they're asking for which may be around £20m-£25m from a host of other clubs while we're sorting out a 10 year Klarna plan with most of the money being paid if we win the Champions League. I can see him going to a half decent mid table side like a Villa and if things don't work out there then end up at BMD.

Unless he doesn't want to move house and then we've got a half a shout! But I don't think we've got £20m to spend on a single player. I reckon £30m-£40m max we'll spend on improving the squad if we get a decent fee for Onana/Pickford, otherwise we'll be picking up frees and loans for the year.
