How are you working out he knocks 20-30% off players value, or doesn't improve players.

At Burnley he operated on a very tight budget, so would have to have improved players to survive. Off the top of my head, Ings, Pope, Wood, McNeil, Tarkowsi, Mee, Collins, Keane all improved under him.

Just because he doesn't have a fancy foreign name, doesn't mean he doesn't improve players. This season, Doucoure, McNeil and Gana all improved subtantially.
Same is this idea he is like just long balls, is a massive chance for him at us even at the current state. Can have all the talent you want leicester for example but he showed that hard work fighting for the shirt is the most important thing. Yes the football will have to get better but to think last season was no structure to the team

They have more sellable assets than us though and richer backers. They could definitely find themselves up against it FFP wise though unless they can qualify consistently for Europe
Which they are not going to do...many teams want to play in europe, yet we have now too many "big" teams which makes it a near impossible task.

The similarity with us is the layers of building over existing players year on year under different managers - that’s our recipe of disaster.

For example:

Buendía (Smith)
Countino (Slippy)

Tielemans (Emery)

Digne another example, he’s surplus now on a big contract.

All on healthy long contracts. Year on year looseing value on what they paid.

Lashing through managers to Emery, is their Carlo - have a feeling despite doing him doing well, it will end the same way.

Seem to be following a similar trend to the hole we were in, limited profits on player trading, high player cost bill to turnover and repeated losses.
Buendia is a starter for Villa and a really important part of the team, he is proving his worth. Couts is a disaster. Digne is not surplus, he is out backup LB which is needed, Moreno got injured towards the end of the season and Digne stepped up and got us across the line to finish 7th. Tiellemans is on a free, I have no idea of his wages or contract term but if 100k a week and 4 years that is a total cost of about 20m. 20m gets very little in the PL these days and wages. With extra games next year the squad needs to be strengthened.

That's a hell of a stream of consciousness to get from discussing a vague rumour about signing a veteran centre back to wishing the club you support had been relegated.
😂 it’s what Everton does to you, obviously I don’t wish we go down but if we’re going to keep dancing with relegation over and over again I’d rather it happen sooner rather than later, massive unknown to us life outside the premier league I mean finances aside is it really a big thing If we get relegated? Would be nice to see us win more than we lose maybe get players in who want to play for the shirt and not pay days it’s not as if we’re glory hunters either is it, soon we will be longest top flight team to not win a trophy seems to some we won trophy’s the last 2 seasons with embarrassing pitch invasions. What do you see the next 5 years bringing? All I see currently is more misery, the top teams are becoming even further ahead regarding FFP rule was meant to bring clubs closer all it’s done is kept the gap further, moshiri has got investment to help him not us, it doesn’t seem as fun splashing cash when it becomes his own and he hasn’t got his mate topping it up with sponsorship deals. Will be interesting to see what the new stadium prices are for season tickets and see if we still remain “the people’s club” football is becoming ridiculous as a whole look at Messi’s MLS contract from a club founded 5 years ago and benzema in Saudi and we’re scraping the barrel for romain saiss 💀

Honestly, you might not see a problem with your backup left-back costing 25m and the best part of 150k a week right now but us Everton fans can vouch for the fact that sort of thing catches up to you.

Tielemans may well work out but I'd say that given what he was already on at Leicester and the bump players expect when they're free agents you can probably double your estimate.

Probably a bit of both, but while he's 26 he's played a number of games you would expect from someone who was closer to 30.

Look he may do well for Villa and where they are (ahead of us). They may well havemore fundamentals and be able to accomodate him. But it's a big no for me.
He might do well for them but he'd be a shocking fit for us currently. Dyche essentially just wants an engine room and Tielemans can't run. Not even sure he starts for Villa most the time

Grealish forgave a lot of your financial sins mate - but it’s a card you can’t play every year. Costs are rising, you have a bloated squad on big money and big costs - what could go wrong.

Villa are the result of events, as a newly promoted club to the PL that allowed you to take on costs due to receiving new PL revenue in the short term allowing growth from a low base, you then had to sell Grealish that’s gotten you to this point, you now have frequent losses, high cost base and topped out on turnover give or take.

I can't see Villa paying him 200k, max it would be 150k. Even at that, it is 30m. How much is Tarkowski costing? Yes we have some players we have paid a few quid for but as someone pointed out above, McGinn, Luiz, Ramsey, Kamara and Tielsmans for 18m kind of suggests we are not following the Everton model

Villa like a kid in a sweetshop. Douglas Luiz, Kamara, Tielemans, Mcginn, Coutinho, all on 100k a week. Dendonker, Ramsey Chamberlain Buendia on top of them. Not much plan there
When the owners bought Villa we were a Championship club with revenues of about 40m a year. Today, a PL club with a revenue of close to 200m a year and if we get past the Euro Conference League qualifier and into the group stage it will be worth an extra 20m+ next year pushing Villa comfortably above the 200m a year revenue. Sounds like there is a plan there.

That only works for teams that have spent many years in the Championship like Leeds or Forest. It didn't work for Villa as we had a very high cost base in the Championship. That is part of the reason we came within a day of administration and needed to sell Villa Park to ourselves to avoid FFP issues.

It still gave scope to take on costs, let’s be honest.

Forgot you had to sell the ground to the shareholders privately - not great.
