I like McTominay, but the spectre of a player on what would be an obvious backwards move for him, would concern me. Hand him a contact and he is 30 or pushing it if he saw it through. That's not going to create profit for trading which is the model which absolutely we must wholeheartedly embrace to become self-sustaining.

I'd generally prefer players to see us as a step up to their next club, rather than Plan B. I'd be concerned about a players attitude and commitment in those circumstances, but to a degree its once bitten, twice shy.

I'd maintain though that for the position we are in, we have to get them in younger and cheaper, and make clubs want them after a season or two. That means a European and global focus to recruitment, as the value simply won't be there more often than not buying domestically.

….it’s a good point but that would then be down to the players character. It’s a backward step but he might feel he has something to prove & he could be a key player at somewhere like Everton. He plays like football matters to him.

I know the clubs a mess but players from other clubs will know what our home/away support is like, they will talk to players from our club. I think we underplay ourselves at times. What new players will want to see is signs of progression in the team.

It still gave scope to take on costs, let’s be honest.

Forgot you had to sell the ground to the shareholders privately - not great.
Its not great that it was allowed to happen, it is unfair and not in the spirit of FFP but it was great for Villa

We have no idea what the squad or first 11 will look like come the end of the window. Players will go and we will bring players in. All we can do is wait and hope,
That's obviously true, but concerned that Dyche's actions don't appear to be matching his words already.

We need to be happy with any progress next season. Anything above 15th will be a real result. Dyche, provided he can bolster the attack with two reasonable striking options, bring in a flexible left sided defender and maybe a little creativity in midfield, is capable of doing this. Then new stadium, new investment....who knows? Maybe top 8 in my lifetime
I think that is a very sensible view. Progress next year and a more comfortable finish would be good but fans (we are all the same) will want more. Attractive progressive football will be called for, top 10, European qualification etc. I think regardless of how good Dyche is and how much he delivers he will never be taken into the heats of Everton fans. He will be appreciated for the work he did avoiding relegation and consolidating in the PL but Everton fans will want a DeZerbi style manager to bring them back up to the top

No concerns at all about it mate - the club don’t own their ground anymore…..
V Sports owns Villa and the other football clubs that our owners have purchased. V Sports also owns Villa Park. Chris Heck has just been appointed head of Business of V Sports which owns all the assets. The legal ownership is not a concern particularly considering there is no external investment or banks involved. The owners of Villa own all the the club and the ground

Yes the shell company of the Shareholders own the ground not Aston Villa football club, they could sell the club tomorrow and keep the ground or sell to a third party.

Meanwhile you have ungrateful little so and so's on ere hating on our owner for pretty much near funding an entire stadium build out of his own pocket.

It is not a shelf company, it is an active company but how does the ownership make any difference? The two Villa owners own all of the club and all of the stadium. If they wanted to sell VP they could. But how is that any different to Moshiri and Everton? If he wanted to sell the ground what is stopping him? And isn't he in the process of getting investment from MSP which will presumably give them some control over what happens the stadium. There is zero security that the stadium will remain part of EFC

I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying. but with all due respect, the money may be out of Moshiri's pocket but who put it in there in the first place?
