Clearly wants out rather than a new contract. Takes away all their bargaining power with just 1 year left and should keep the fee sensible and stop any notion of them getting £20m.

Yep. My take from his statement is that he hopes Coventry let him go to Sporting even if Wolves or Everton offer more. It seems unlikely we can get him for a reasonable fee unless Coventry see Simms as an attractive part of the deal
