Just past it for me now just not a deal we should look at

Ultimately club is desperate for a CF with Calvert Lewin's profile to hold up so not a surprise to me his name is being circulated as short term option.

I don't see him leaving West Ham anytime soon though as they're selling Scammaca to Roma and Ings didn't play much and is also wrong side of 30 so pretty telling in the last two months that Moyes basically started Antonio every game he was fit.

This might be the type of thing we have to do though unfortunately.

Taking players that keep us in the league this season and wait for the new ground, FFP restrictions to ease and then build from there.
Palmer is a big talent but just for next year we can probably find someone as good who we can also keep in 2024

Simms can’t get into a team that can’t score goals. Unfortunately we’re at different levels here
Ibe had like 1 in 40 for Pool and he and Simms both were decent in the championship at the same age. My point was merely that Bournemouth were stupid, but others aren’t as stupid unfortunately.

Not as bad then, but still need to drive the price up. The way Chelsea throw the cash about, I would be upset if we accepted less than £65m.

…really? The only way Simms is used next season is as back-up and if he needs to be used we’ve not progressed from last season’s debacle.

Simms is the same age as Haaland, there’s lots of better players with clubs higher than Everton who don’t want Simms for a reason. I watched him at Hearts and Sunderland, we started Gray ahead of him against Bournemouth.

He has to be moved on for whatever we can get.

Nkounkou (£1.7mil), Stones (£2.5mil), Price (£400k), Broadhead (£1.5mil) making small contributions to our balance sheet. Simms (£3.5mil) could bring the total to £9.6mil. Not bad going and it all adds up.

I’m not sure we get 65 but it would be weird to be asking for 55, surely you ask 65 but settle on 55.

I’d like more too but it’s a bit of a buyers market for midfielders this summer, lots of options for the big clubs available, so I’d settle at 55 to get it done quickly. It’s not a huge profit, but as much as I like the fella there’s areas of his game that don’t look like a 30m player so a decent profit after 12 months is still good.

It’s a Chelsea we’re talking about here…..they’ll probably offer £85m and we will masterfully negotiate it to £65m

The lowest i would accept would be £75mil which would clear £66mil after the clause. Thats double what we paid and even then id be disappointed/reluctant to sell.

The only way a deal makes real sense is if Colwill (as a DM), Hall (LB) and one more come our way in return.

Him, Garner and Onana. that midfield would of been enough to put a smile on your face ( with this club )

If we can hold onto Garner + Onana then with the wide player links i wonder if McNeil may move into an advanced midfield role...

He's certainly got the perfect left peg for it !!
With his Trickery, and speed on the move it could work..

Just comes down to dyche to ever dream of letting that thought process in his mind..

Yet we're still just a few appearances removed from him being mobile enough to skin a notoriously mobile defender and score
I think he hit an icy bit of turf when he took that first step. Even he was shocked at how quick he latched on to that.. ( Not something we'll see again or certainly not on a regular basis )

We had spells in the second half of the season where a real strikee could have made a difference. It wasn't every game honestly but there were times we needed to not have Gray or Maupay and instead someone who has a prayer of being in the right spot.
That's why I think Cannon will be a good squad player. He's got that part to his game were he will be in the right place/right time

Cannon is younger so that's nice. Simms was better in the championship last year and we decided he wasn't good enough rapidly. I don't hold put any hope.

I'd be happy to pick one but given our options both could have had real chances.

So we shouldn't be going for PL players then.
I agree there's much better value in other leagues at younger ages but this is Everton. We seem to scout decently but rarely take the risk on well scouted lesser known talents, and usually go back to the "known" names who have played in the EPL. Maybe the changes at board level will help because seemingly Bill and Mosh have blocked a lot of well scouted targets in favour of the likes of Maupay who they have heard of.

There's some good frees this summer too, we could fill a few of the positions we need with frees.

Decent analysis goals and creativity are the biggest issues but also we need a Centre back unless we are convinced Branthwaite can slot straight into the first team. Don't trust Holgate or Keane both should be shipped out if possible. If Onana goes we need another midfielder for sure.
