in fairness, Leeds attacking players weren't the problem last season. It was their shambolic defence and GK. They have a couple of decent attackers that would improve us in the final third. I'd be seriously concerned though if we were considering buying one of braindead defenders.

A lot of the players we are linked with are for more though, we should be able to get Gyokeres for about £15m as he only has 1 year left. We have been linked to the likes of El Bilal Toure who are good players but his club want £35m and his numbers are nothing special.

100k x 3 years = £15.6m

65k x 3 years = £10.14m

If Dembele was for sale for £8million but only wanted 65k a week, we would end up spending more

The one that we should have kept if you look back on this era was Lookman.

Remember being annoyed at the time that he didn't play more as I thought he had a lot of potential to develop into a great player.

As bad as our recruitment is - I'm hoping they can do some of this basic arithmetic.

I suppose a temptation of a 'free' with high wages is that you can spread the cost over time - whereas perhaps sometimes clubs want the majority of transfer fees up front.

I'm assuming that is why the club totally failed with signings in January - we couldn't offer money up front.
 
Think Moshiri probably started to plot his way out the minute Usmanov was locked out.

If he's a businessman with any acumen he probably does that without emotion - selling playing assets to make the books look better would be a good start.

I don't think we will get much re-investment from player sales at this point.

For next season 4 more new players who are just OK is what we need....I'd like that to be a surprising mix of UK based and talent from abroad. But if they all come from Leeds then I can live with that. You're right that we have to claw our way into the modern era but, given everything else going on, I think it's baby steps for us
 
at least next week we should find out about: Davies, Coleman and Lonergan whether they wil renew.
assuming the players report back early July.
also whether we need to do a Richarlisonesque firesale for the closure of the financial year

the wait for news is killing me lol
