I agree with this. In a year's time, we'll have yet another collection of misfit footballers bought by an outgoing manager (Dyche) who play in a way that won't suit us long term.

Dyche isn't the manager for the long term project - as brutal as that may sound to some. Potter absolutely is that manager.
Potter has never demonstrated an ability to build a squad. He was the beneficiary of a system at Brighton that spoon fed him above average players playing under literally no pressure.

Think the pressure would be to much for potter atm imho, i am still hopeful we can bring some players in to this squad and see how dyche looks after patterson Branthwaite garner onana. I dont kno how long he will be here but we really need a manager in for the long term now. In that he must get the results to stay here

Who did Dyche buy?! Agree it’s a misfit squad, but not necessarily all poor.

Iin our predicament id sooner have Dyche than Potter. a couple of okay forwards make a huge difference to this squad, though a replacevent formMina who isn’t brutal would help too!

All we need is 2 competent strikers..................not top notch strikers just competent and we will be OK no doubt about it. Our defence is half decent, midfield is half decent, goalkeeper is very good but currently the attack is dire. Dyche & co just need to add half decent attackers and a few more generic players and we will get a very safe position. Attack has let us down over the last couple of seasons although we have made bad errors defensively and in the midfield those have been exasperated by a blunt, non effective attack. If we get two half decent attackers and the rest stay as they are then we would be 10-15 points better off.
No, it's not all we need. We have one LB, one LW, no RW and no reserve keeper. Even if, by some miracle, we sign two competent forwards we will still struggle. Our squad is low quality and paper thin. We need at least five players but more realistically seven. I'm not optimistic at all, however.

Barring Injuries... And We also have the AFCON..

We need iliman ndiaye. Not go for a Leeds reject Summerville. Do we really want to drop down the table again. Dyche and thelwell better get this guy in.

I'm not sure spoon fed is the correct way to describe Brighton's slick recruitment strategy, as no doubt as head coach, Potter is a part of that process.

He also achieved three promotions with that Swedish team and got them into the Europa League. Surely that's the very definition of successfully building a squad.

We also need a RB as one is coming to the end of his career and the other seems as injury prone as DCL, we also need more goals from Midfield , we need to be looking at least 50 plus goals , try working that out with what we have if the proposed strikers we get dont do the business

Yes you are wrong. How can you write 303m in losses in 3 years, and then say "we're still gonna be crawling towards £105mill rolling 3 year losses"? We dont get to go backwards in time and 303m is WAY more than 105m. The only way ANY of that makes sense is if the FFP losses are nowhere close to the total accounts losses, which is literally what I've been saying. Again, if you don't understand how it works that's fine, but then stop pretending you do and needlessly confusing other people.

Chelsea lost something like 370m over 3 years, and no FFP violation. 370 is more than 105. Its because those numbers are not the important ones.

Fine boss man.

You're the only post I've ever seen that says we can confidently and comfortably spend around £50mill net. If that's not confusing people I don't know what is.

We can't.

What Brighton have shown is how successive managerial appointments can be key to improved performances on the field. Whether by luck or design they have improved with each change at the top. Dyche is our Chris Hughton....long way to go before we think about our Potter...

I don’t agree with the notion that we are the most unattractive club in the league, and that players would automatically choose the likes of Fulham over Everton.

If we were that bad, then all of our players would be gagging to leave. Whereas Pickford, one of the best keepers on the planet, signed a new contract just a few months ago.

We can still offer extremely good wages, and we remain well located for any player that wants to remain or move to the North West, which is ideal for top players at the Manchester clubs that may be looking for some game time ahead of next summer’s Euros.

And that's if it's a 'reserve keeper' we need. If we sell our two most valuable assets then five competent signings will barely paper over the cracks

Location location location...come to Everton and be within touching distance of Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford
