They were glowing about his performances last year and that the general consensus amongst Villa fans is that this is Emery’s 1st mistake letting him go, one more season would have been a low risk option.

Last season, look at the players we played in the left back position, this is a safety net against that and frankly, a low cost low risk one because we don’t know what some young Euro hotshot can do in the PL.

It doesn’t solve our problem at LB in an ongoing way and I get what people are saying though

The word that jumped out for me was "consistency".

You cant put a price on that for a PL club.

If it is Ashley Young then we have to hope that his fitness doesn;t fall off a cliff, which can happen late on in a career all of a sudden. Apart from that concern I'm ok with this.
