Having slept on it I’m more or less fine with it. Two thoughts:
1- Young started 23 games for Villa last season. Do ANY of our squad start 23 game for Villa last season?
2- We are always on about Brighton doing everything right and how we should copy them. Brighton signed James Milner who is only a few months younger.

The thing is in isolation as cover Young is ok but we are desperate for a forward that should have been first in the door. It's all very short term. Stinks that we aren't just bargain basement shopping we are seeing what's in the bins outside the shop

We need cover at LB - signing young I assume is a financial choice betraying our situation and ambition - which is more disappointing than Young himself.
Until we sign 2 forwards, I am not really interested in other business. We need to get our priorities right, because we absolutely didn't last summer, and it meant we were a half hour from the Championship

IF it is Ashley Young it will be absolute confirmation, we are screwed and not to expect too many ins that will improve our 1st team, expect back ups and not competition, where does that leave us?

By saying I'm not interested, I should really have said that I'm not in favour of other transfers until the priorities are achieved first.
I dont want to see us focusing on any position other than forwards right now. I'll make an exception for the Begovic replacement because that's a big need too. But for outfield positions, only forwards should be the focus right now.

Technically the order they come in the door doesn’t matter til a ball is kicked, but yeah if Young is first in the door it’ll be seen as a worrying sign rather than the sensible transfer it probably is. Just got to hope forwards are in quickly now too to set minds to rest.
Well then don't sell him, send him out on loan let him prove himself and sell him then.
Even if he bombs someone will 100% still want to buy him for 3.5m next summer.
