Young is fine.

It's not what anyone wants to hear but it's where we are as a club now.

He's done well last season and can cover both fullback positions plus possibly either winger positions.

As for Rodrigo, he's got one of the best Xg's for a forward over the last 3 seasons in the Premier League, he'll be decent for a season or 2.

It's not ideal by any means but for a club that has absolutely no money to spend with massive holes in the squad, it's a decent start to incoming transfers.

Apparently Young been at FF all week

I'm not that against the signing tbh, reading villa fans opinion on him they wanted him to stay, started 23 games

There's realism and then there is despair. Where we are as a club right now does not have to be where we are as a club this time next year. Signing these two would mean this thread will look almost identical going into 24/5. I like how measured some posters are being about the possibility of Young coming in...makes a welcome change from the hysteria...but, unless there is some sort of coaching role attached, we should not be bringing in anybody whose career is effectively over

Have we actually bid for him though.
We want him according to Bobble. No actual bid. We can't afford him.

It was being spread around that we couldn't afford him because they wanted €40m, but it's €20m.

We literally don't have any money. Seems to be just over what we rake in from player sales this summer. Doesn't include the Gordon and Kean money - that's already gone supposedly.

For sure, but if we're looking to spend our limited money elsewhere in the squad, then it makes sense.

Again, it's not ideal, even a bit laughable to be honest, but what can you do?
