I posted in the Young thread that it would make sense if we were using him as a one year stopgap while ISS is being developed.

But as weve sold ISS then the only remaining logic would be that were selling eithef Holgate or Godfrey (a loan makes no sense) to increase the budget.

Weve brought in a hald decent chunk:

Simms: £3.5-5mil
ISS £4mil
Stones £2.5mil
Nkounkou £1.7mil
Price £400k

=£12.1 - £13.6mil

Move on Holgate/Godfrey as well as Gray and Maupay. Also get the likes of Gomes/Gbamin out and we have enough for a couple of attacking players. Even at least funds for 1-2 years payments on 2 good players.

But the clock is ticking and we need to make these sales this and next week while in tandem having players lined up.

Sorry mate, but you are an example of the the mindset Kenwright hs embedded in the fanbase - to actually have us begging/crying out for mediocrity on the pitch and in the dug-out. I've done it too in the past, but no more. It simply has to stop.

We need to generate money. We are heading to financial ruin. The players we bought last year had tiny fees as down-payment (I believe McNeil was something like £2.5m upfront) so will have to come out of this year's budget. If we sign Wood or Adams etc they will cost us good money and will stick around for years, eventually leaving on frees as so many of our signings do.

Meanwhile, over the next few years as the pursestrings tighten further, we will not be able to augment the squad with more young talent, meaning there is no one to sell to balance the books. Then we'll need to turn to the academy - but we are already looking to sell all of them.

If we can afford to buy crap like Adams and Wood, we can afford to buy younger players who may be a risk, but at least have the potential to improve us and make money.

If we carry on this course, it really will be total financial oblivion.
You've missed the point he's making. You said they aren't better than what we have. They very clearly are better even if they're rubbish. He isn't advocating buying them at all.

For what it's worth Young was pretty good at Villa and is a clear upgrade on Crapalenko

Maitland Niles is decent in midfield too if we are going down to spend zero

Would prefer loan market tho maybe getting Sessegnon in who is available supposedly but let's not forget where we are as a club and whom our manager is

As much as I want to vent, I don’t think there’s much of a point. We’ve absolutely zero money.
How is this even possible though? We’ve sold Kean and Gordon in the last 6 months for around 60 to 70 million? Got a lot to answer for this board, horrible going into a new season with little optimism, feels like we’re going down without a fight.

I think Moshiri’s capital is locked up in Russia under countless sanctions. It wouldn’t surprise me if all of that money has gone into servicing debt and day to day operational spending.

But then surely we will have money to spend when the Sky money hits the account?
