Summer transfer window 2023

With the new stadium ready in circa 12months time, that should bring vastly more increased commercial activities.

But surely we need to invest in players to ensure we can take advantage of this?

Makes no sense at all.
Will be useless if we are down before then. Also, people act like the stadium will be a magic wand for our financial problems - not if the same morons are running the club.

We would need competent business people to maximise financial opportunities from the stadium, otherwise it will just be an expensive and spectacular albatross around our neck. If we keep building a crap side with no assests, it will also take years to sort out even if we somehow remain in the PL.

Not moaning..,just an observation. I don’t think we will be spending much this summer, but I do think they are going to tie down as many people as they can. It jus5 strikes me as odd, that they sell youngsters with genuine potential, but extend contracts for the likes of this fella, having been unable to extend the contract of Begovic. We are in survive, not thrive mode unfortunately.
Yes I agree, we're trying to get over losing the Russian money, the ffp thing and into the new stadium. I am worried about selling younger players, unless they don't look like making it. We've kept hold of too many young lads that we shouldn't have recently.

Begovic didn't want to stay on as number 2. That's why he left. We offered him a contract, which he turned down. All be it we might have offered him lower wages?

I think we all knew this window was going to be grim.

So far, our squad is weaker than it was when only minutes away from the Championship, we’ve had a youth prospect poached by Chelsea, and our first signing looks like it will be a player approaching 40. MSP deal still not over the line, chairman Bill still in situ.

I’m sure there’s lots going on behind the scenes, but January’s debacle does not fill me with hope that we can rely on those in charge to get things over the line.
Good times, though. Good times.

At least we're trying to sell young players. Back around 1999-2000 or so we let a whole youth team go, to save money. Baines Jags and Joey Barton were released among others. While things are bad they aren't nearly as bad as those times.

I agree would be gutted if we let Cannon go though. I think Dyche will have a good look at him in preseason.
I just don't see dyche trusting or playing cannon next season

Possibly….I wouldn’t be sure about Begovic not wanting to be No 2. I hardly think he thought he would replace Pickford when he first joined (given his age as well). It may very well be he wanted more game time as a no2, or wages as you say. It will be interesting to see his next move. I would also be concerned around De Geas decision yesterday. If Utd can’t get Inter’s goalkeeper, they may well come looking for ours.

Rumours of Holgate being off to Sheff United for eight million. Which would be helpful

This would take us to circa £20mil in sales since season end.

It would also make more sense for the Young deal.

If, by some miracle, we were able to bring in Wharton and Gnonto then I might be able to grin and bear one old crock

Wharton (CM 19)
Gnonto (ACM 19)

We could start to look more sexy then but would still need that elusive centre forward.

One from my list (David, Balogun, Wahi, El Bilal) and we'd really just need a right winger.

All true.

If we were as skint as some people are making out then we wouldn’t be holding on to Pickford, who became our highest earning player just a few months ago.

I’m hoping that we are just trying to be sensible in getting rid of our useless players before we start adding to our squad.
