The SNP want the Tories to win, and the Tories want the SNP to win, it's a marriage of convenience. If the SNP demolish Labour in Scotland, The Tories will form a government and get us out of Europe. If the Tories get into government the SNP can play on it, say the country is being removed from Europe against the will of the Scottish people, and play on how much the Scots hate the Tories, and Scotland will gain independence.

I'm not sure that the Tories want this. Do they? I thought all their talk was about reform and that Cameron would negotiate a better deal for us. Although I suppose it could all be a front for actually finding a way out of Europe. He's failed in Europe on a number of occasions this parliament. Either he's genuinely not very good at standing up for the UK or he's deliberately trying to cause divisions. I think that the British people need stronger leadership on this issue. I really do.

I don't think Cameron really wants his legacy as leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party to be that of the man that oversaw the breakup of the Union.

The Tories will vote Trident through anyway, won't they, so talk of the SNP holding Labour to ransom over it is pretty much scaremongering, isn't it? Or have I misunderstood something?
they said a couple of weeks ago that they , would vote agaist it as a single item, when the spending review comes up, they arnt daft they know the other partys will vote for it, although a few labour might not but they will have made there piont, they havnt said its no trident or no deal as they would get told to f off and get blamed for letting in the tory goverment and there vote would implode.

That's what I was getting at, really. Cheers.

The SNP REALLY don't want the Tories to win.

I was thinking in terms of a Lab/SNP coalition or at the very least formal agreement.
The SNP are categorical that Trident goes (at least from the Clyde) and it would cost £billions to relocate to anywhere else.

Apparently the navy need 4 subs as one is always on patrol, 2 undergo refits albeit could sail if necessary and 1 undergoes extensive refits that take 2 years or more.
We also, of course, have our NATO obligations to fulfil not least of which is to spend 2% of GDP on defence which we are currently not doing.
Whether Britain should act as USAs left hand man as a global policeman or not is an entirely different kettle of fish

From the 2015 SNP Manifesto:

Trident – the SNP continues to oppose nuclear weapons and will seek to block the replacement of Trident, which they estimate will save £4bn by the mid-2020s.

Seems pretty clear to me

He doesn't, but he has promised a referendum to stave off the right wing, and when the result is that we leave the EU, he will be the one responsible.

I think you're being a bit naive. If I wanted Scottish Independence who would I rather have in government. The Labour Party, who have a lot of support in Scotland and represent the general populus, or the Tories who everybody in Scotland hates, and who represent the wealthy few, and who have promised a referendum which may see Scotland leave the EU against it's will?

yep they will vote agaist it, when it comes up as part of the spending review they will get beat, they will have done as they have said tried to block it and failed as they know they will.
they arnt the only show in town anyway if the libs, joined labour with a few irish, green and welsh they could form a goverment without them it all up in the air.
why arnt people asking about ukip, tory. unionist getting together that would be fun.
Something is going on here the goverment is talking like the have already lost, going on about what labour and snp are going to do rather than what they have to offer, wonder if there is something about to break?
