The Ashes 2013 Thread

suppose we should enjoy it after the 90's, but it's suppose to be test cricket - this isn't a test for anybody at all. if the ashes are going to be like this for the next 5/6 years it could get a bit dull haha.

somebody needs to have a look at the rankings if this is 3rd vs 4th in tests??? how are england below india btw?

We have an insurmountable lead; if we're not going to declare then we should at least just smash it about. This just feels ridiculously cautious.

Forgetting record chases, a 500 lead with 6 sessions isn't insurmountable. 600 with 5 sessions is..

root's going to be near 200 soon so cook's going to go on tomorrow morning and wait for his 200... then bairstow will be near 50 so he'll wait for that. then what? may as well set them 700 to be sure? ha

Nah it really is, considering the side that would have to do it. Like someone said above, I think you could give these two innings and they'd struggle to reach 500.

Cricket is boring, Only interested in All things Everton . Can't wait for start of season. I would rather watch the paint drying in Everton's dressing room than watch Cricket.

i would have enforced the follow-on tbh. I know you don't want to be chasing on 4th 5th day, but it wouldn't have got that far. even if aussies made england bat again, it wouldn't be a total above 3 figures i doubt. bowlers been out there less than a day so wouldn't have been tired, aussies on a downer, could have had THEM 3 down at stumps yesterday - would have been all over bar the shouting. Instead we'll probably rack up a stupid lead like 600 if they don't get us out, playing the cautious approach first. luckily there's so much time left in the game

giving them a bit of a confidence boost after last night - we're just lucky that aus have never been able to take the game by the scruff of the neck when on top.

Commercial decision. If AUS had followed on the match would now be over, hence England go in and keep the fans there for another couple of days.......
