I liked what I saw from Compton, fair enough like, just thought he had a lot of steel and grit about him.

Tremlett will cause murder in Aussie. You gonna get to any of the games Walken?

I'd love to mate, will definitely go back to oz, wont be as soon as that unfortunately, or if it is I'll have left it too late for tickets.

I just don't see a test standard player in Compton, James Taylor just hit a nice century for the lions as well, maybe Compton could be a modern day david steele, come in for a few series and sell wicket dearly

Oh thought you were still over there mate!

Do rate Taylor though, good call on him.

agree with this. Albeit sometimes when we've been negative from the off it's been because, like this evening, we've needed to see out a set number of overs. The thing that annoys me is that Compton was mainly dropped because his scoring rate was poor, plus a slight dip in form. Since Root has been promoted to open his rate has declined, even slower than compton's was. I really think Compton should be in that team instaed of Kerrigan (effectively Bairstow) and Root put down the order back to where he was making serious runs before this series.

they do it for half the day it seems now though, they still had 18 overs last night, it will be day 4 by the time they get to aussies score. I'm not saying being overly aggressive because then they'll get out for 300 odd and be in big ****. But they have such a talented team, they can always pull it back, just go at them, if they scored at 4 an over last night they'd be up at around 70 and even at 1 down, it looks like they have taken a fairly nice slice out of the deficit.

They keep playing for the end of sessions, 18 overs is about half a session ffs. They always seem to play the last 30 mins or so of a day, just staying in, it's so annoying because it never works. it's too negative and how many times has it backfired? think of how many times we've seen a night watchman (another terribly negative tactic). There's no inbetween, they're batsmen always seem to be 14 no off about 70 balls, with 3 fours and about 65 dot balls. They suffer the same problem in the one day team as well, need to keep the scoreboard ticking.

this same batting lineup was scorng 500's and 600's for fun a couple of years back.

having just sat through this session I agree with these sentiments. Always used to be 100 runs a session, 300 a day. Now lukcy to get to 250.

Although this test aside, the Australians have usually been bowled out in each inns in under a day, hence this gives us 3 and a bit days to make the runs so no real pressure to score quickly.

Too many batsmen out of nick, means slower run rate. This is a little ridiculous though

this as well, over thinking their techniques and pressure building. Prior for one is someone that has rarely played his natural game in the short times he has been in.

Trott, Cook, Bairstow too. All been trying to not get out instead of score. Haven't even made 100 runs in a session and a half, that's rubbish.

Feel sorry for the people that paid alot of money to watch this

bairstow was the biggest dissapointment, especially in the last test, he must have known another failure and he was gone, should have just played with a last chance saloon attitude and played his natural game, that's why he was picked - score quick runs with the tail.

seems as though we settled for a draw here after day 1, very very poor performance.

jesus christ blocking out a maiden to the terrible steve smith. just smash him out of the attack like they did to kerrigan

I was talking about Kerrigan with my arl fella last night, he's a dead good lad apparently.. Still turns out for Ormskirk when he can.
I wish him all the best, especially after his first two overs the other day !

kerrigan's time will come.

i don't get that pietersen decision. why hasn't the umpire made the decision? he should either say whether it's out or not, he can't just go to the video review, the whole point of having DRS is to overturn the umpire's decision. If dar wants to raise the finger and pietersen wants to overturn it, then so be it
