cheers roydo, really gutted, was hoping to get a glimpse of tremlett before the next ashes

Was odd really. But then again, rather see some fringe players see what Test cricket is all about in a dead rubber rather than a decider down under.

been a very poor series i think. probably because england haven't really turned up i suppose and australia are just too **** to take advantage.

It's been alright, the games haven't been too bad but it hasn't been as exciting as it could have been such is the gulf in the two sides, England have done what they've needed to without being emphatic

The 'Gulf' isn't what it was 12 months ago mate.
I reckon we got lucky in NZ, and we have some complacent players in the squad.

True, but they've not lost a test in a while, they're still hard to beat, and have some superb players, the records they have tell you all you need to know

On our local news, a 16 year old lad played for Hants against Lancs and took 2 wickets, including Katich !
How good must that have felt ?

The signs of a class team are being able to win when you're not at your best, I think England are showing this right now.

NHD is right about them needing a bit of a wakeup call.

Great catch from KP to get rid of Watson this morning, really was an important one. You know, I still think England will easily win this, the pitch will deteriorate and the second innings totals will be lower, as has happened all series, we'll nick it.

pretty negative all round again by cook's england, he's not exactly winning me over i have to say. We're playing a very average team and constantly sticking fielders on the boundary and wasting time. when we bat it's way too slow, i know it's test cricket but our team strike rate has been appauling against not a great attack. always 2 an over or under and where has it got us? haven't even posted a score of 400 yet, why not go out there and make a fast start, put aussies right under the cosh from the off. instead it's block every watson ball, block or leave pretty much every harries bowl and not even take on the medium pacers.

smack em over the top and make aussies go defensive, invited all the pressure onto ourseleves and usually throw it away by gifting our wickets to rank shots when the batsmen should be set. cook needs to set the tone, already look like we'll settle for a draw in this match.

agree with this. Albeit sometimes when we've been negative from the off it's been because, like this evening, we've needed to see out a set number of overs. The thing that annoys me is that Compton was mainly dropped because his scoring rate was poor, plus a slight dip in form. Since Root has been promoted to open his rate has declined, even slower than compton's was. I really think Compton should be in that team instaed of Kerrigan (effectively Bairstow) and Root put down the order back to where he was making serious runs before this series.

This is how I feel too regarding selection.

Fair play to Smith for his ton today, I quite like his style despite the fact he's an Aussie.

Compton is not the way forward, county level player, I'd stick with root and bring in James Taylor for Bairstow. Regards the Kerrigan pick, what concerns me is would England have picked him if Bresnan was fit, if not then that seriously means they think fatso is a better option than Tremlett heading down under

I liked what I saw from Compton, fair enough like, just thought he had a lot of steel and grit about him.

Tremlett will cause murder in Aussie. You gonna get to any of the games Walken?
